Upon first thought, this is true... but the more I think about it, for me, it's false.

The trait I must dislike in others is one that I would say I don't have: stagnation, the ability to be okay with "settling" for being less than happy... I guess what I dislike is really what I'm afraid of becoming myself.

i understand what your saying....

but i definatly think it depends...because one can say "i dislike this about someone" and you may just dislike it about them, but it doesnt mean that what you dislike about them is a trait you have...KWIM??

Courtney, the traits you dislike in others might not be ones you are displaying, but perhaps ones you are scared of becoming, because it could happen so easily?

I've been told this saying as well, and believe it is true, not on a superficial level, but deeper within.

False, there are traits my DH has that I dislike that I definitely don't have.
But there are traits in some people that I do have and dislike.
So it's both true and false depending on the particular trait.

I would have to say that for me personally....I find the traits I dislike most in others are the ones I'm most fearful of becoming.

for me, they seem to be the opposite of what I am: people who constantly run late, and people that are liars.

False, basically it's psyco babble. Because it plays on our fears and insecurities, it sounds profound...when it reality, every person/trait/situation is unique.

I hate people who are loud and obnoxious in public, and also people who are cheap and stingy. One example that always sticks out in my mind is when one of my friends went into this shop and asked the guy where there was a cheap place she could get her bangs cut. He said "oh, supercuts is right around the corner" and she exclaimed, "EW Gross, what else?" as if she was apparently too good for supercuts. Then when she paying for her croissant or whatever, he charged her a pound fifty (which was the price). She started arguing with him that the sign said half off after 5pm, and that it was 4:55 so she should get the discount. He gave it to her, but I have never been more mortified in my life.

I don't agree with this. I don't have most of the traits that I don't like in other people.

I mean, for example if I say I don't like person X because I know they treat their parents badly (and the parents did nothing to deserve it) - and I'm not a person like X, nor do I fear becoming a person like X.

im going to have to disagree...because my soon to be mother in law is negative and rude and only cares about her self and treats her family like crap...i on the other hand am nothing like that and i am not scared of becoming that at all because i know i wont be like that. and i know it could'nt happen that easily.

i agree with twinkle. tink...its all just physco babble.

Wow, you completely nailed what I was trying to find words to say! I work really really hard and what I'm most afraid of is becoming lazy, as if it's a disease I have to fend off day in and day out.
