Smile Show me your WEDDING CAKE :)

I was going through our old wedding photos today and found a picture of our wedding cake - it just looked so pretty!

I just thought it would be fun to have a thread where we can look at our wedding cakes, and maybe provide some inspiration to soon-to-be brides

Here's ours...it was chocolate, topped with Black Magic roses:

oooh! Here's mine!

I absolutely did not want a huge fancy tiered cake & when my parents offered to pay for my cake I made them get 2 flat cakes (you can see one in the background) one white cake, one chocolate.... and then i came across this one with the bride and groom strawberries & was smitten! I had to have it & my parents were generous enough to pay for this one too!

Oh I love that one with the strawberries, it's so sweet lol. Looks yummy too.

I find that most of these cakes look good, but I'm not too keen on some of the fillings. Plus, I'd hate to spoil it. It's like a piece of art lol.

Mine was very simple as it was only for 20 people, but it was soooo yummy!!! The bottom was vanilla and the top was chocolate with an amazing buttercream icing, it was seriously the best cake ive ever eaten!!!

Fantastic thread!

Here is mine. The layers were alternated - white cake with strawberry shortcake filling and chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling. White icing, with black magic roses between the layers. We opted for our initials on top, instead of the bride and groom!

Junkenpo: How CUTE!! The bride and groom strawberries are so clever...not to mention extremely edible (YUMMMMM)

courtneyh: Gorgeous cake! Are those sugar cala lilies on top? Great idea for the two-flavored cake...I was being entirely selfish when I got mine and made it all chocolate hehe

Our cake was pretty big, and wayyyyy too expensive. I always use the excuse that I was young(er) and dumb(er) at the time - although I must admit, I don't regret it one bit!

Thanks, couture! To be honest, the cake was my favorite part of the whole reception. I sooooooooooo wanted to make it all chocolate, but DH is a white cake guy, so I couldn't! Yes, wedding cakes are really expensive, but they're so beautiful - it's easy to justify the expense, IMO!
