FWIW, investment banks were also given money. Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns, etc. Bailout monies also went to investment banks via the AIG bailout also.

I definitely think you should go. If it is someone who is your boss that you work with, it's not worth the worry or stress that NOT going would present. It makes you look like a team player. You don't need to spend a lot of money on a nice dress, and leave the SO at home. What is your budget for a dress? We can try and help you! I seriously think the best thing to do would be just go to the wedding. But anyway, it sounds like it would be an unbelievable and beautiful wedding, and enjoy the lavish festivities! Also, just take the subway... not a big deal at all. I think it looks bad if you decline, though, especially if he's a boss of yours.

Can you go to the wedding with someone else from work? I would think others are going and to me it would not be a big deal to go with someone else. I would go and have a great time.
