I just have one question....am I wrong for thinking that a partner should come before a friend? Am I wrong to feel hurt that this friend means more to him than I ever did?

I will say shortly, this :

"His best friend is a female, same age as him and he says he loves her more than me. "Not in that way" he added, but still, he says she comes before any relationship, yet she doesn't give him the same treatment and she's also engaged to another guy. I find it to be extremely ****ed up"

is an absolute load of crap. Its so wrong I dont even know where to begin. You are right in not accepting it. And you are lucky that this is all behind you and you can start the rest of your life without this pathetic jerk poisoning it.

A partner should always come before a friend. Don't question yourself about this. Someday you will meet someone with the same values. That person will feel lucky every single day to be with you.

I thought I was right. My parents said the same as you guys, but it's better hearing it from people with an unbiased view.
