So instead of going to our regular nice eyeglass place hubby decided to get our kids new glasses from Walmart. They come with a very good guarantee. Son breaks his glass ear piece on one side. The are literally just a week over a year old. Walmart would replace them if they were under a year (no problem with the dates). They were expensive glasses and had the sun glass tint. So they say they will order new frames, don't call them they will call you.....kind of a attitude. Wait a week, get a call and they just don't make the frames anymore so they say.......so I guess they want you to get all new glasses from them...... We're going to another store. It is just the principal of one thinking that the frames they sell with be there longer than a year so you can replace them if they broke. So what if they were under warranty--would they magically Have the frames. Just need to vent.....

Aww Im sorry hun. I actually saw a news report on something similar to this. If you choose to buy lenses from one of these discount/largely public doctors/companies, to be very careful because they make a lot of mistakes and if you were to go to one of them that Costco would be the best.
Here's the story: http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dw...1cb680462.html I suggest Finding a good private optometrist and ordering your kids glasses through them, yes it might be more expensive and a bit more time consuming but this way you know you're dealing with someone personally who will be more attentive to your needs. |

I have a friend who needed some contacts after Katrina. He lost everything in the storm. He went to a Wal-Mart in Tampa and they told him they'd need to call his doctor in New Orleans to sell him new contacts. He was like, "Their office is GONE! HELLO! We were hit by a hurricane!" So many people were so willing to help him out with things, but Wal-Mart wasn't one of them.

Sorry to hear (read?) that. I lost a leg off my Walmart glasses that I have had for 3 years. I brought them into the store without calling and they fixed them for me. They didn't carry my frame style anymore so they replaced the leg with a very similar looking one and they only charged around $7. I don't know if your local Walmart vision center would do the same though, but they might.
