judgement is so subjective. with this many people on the board, some people may think some things are appropriate and others may not. thanks for the reminder. i just think it doesn't really do much because of that. JMHO.

also, it is illegal to knowingly allow 12 year olds to be registered on forums without parental consent. and in response to the response that we can't really prevent? well, i think those kids are going to have access to a lot worse than people talking about real life situations.

Thank you, Azia, I knew there was a law. It's call the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and is federal law. It requires that children under 13 have parental permission before releasing info to websites such as their email, and sharing other personal information, such as their name and location. I knew there was a reason every one of the websites I trafficked had a thirteen and up policy. God knows they wouldn't be uniform on their own.

honestly this should be an adult forum. it's up to parents to make sure their kids don't see anything they don't want them to see and a forum where most posters are adults will have discussions that are way beyond the maturity level of 12 and 13 year-olds.
and it's not like this site is exactly racy. so someone started a thread about tossing the salad, it's not like kids don't already have access to that pretty much anywhere. take 'savage love' (dan savage's hilarious and brilliant advice column) - it's syndicated and available in hundreds of free weeklies all over north america, including the village voice, not to mention thousands of websites. anyone has access to that, including 12 year-olds, and the contents are way more graphic than mere salad-tossing or penis size.

Well the admins have certainly have the right to decide what type of forum they want this to be. I found the two threads that were closed to be obviously out of place in this forum.

But you are right, Sputnik that it shouldn't be justified on the basis of the fact that we have publicly acknowleged members under 13; this not in compliance with the law anyway.

I do agree that some things are out of place in this forum. I don't think general sex discussions are, however. There's definitely a way to talk about sex without being crass. We can use more clinical terms and not get overly graphic, while still being able to discuss issues we might have with our sex lives or views on sex in general. I just wish we had more clear guidelines on what is and isn't appropriate to discuss. It would be a shame if we weren't allowed to discuss it at all, you know?

And while, yes, this is a purse forum, we all know it is so much more than that.

As always, it's up to the mods (and especially Megs and Vlad) to decide. No one will leave just because we can't discuss sex! haha

the CAPITAL letters AREN'T NECESSARY and AREN'T going to make me AGREE WITH you.

if it's just a purse forum, there shouldn't be sections on celebs, relationships and family, tv shows, cooking, games, etc...
of course i'm just stating my opinion here, not telling mods and admins how they should run their board. i'm just saying that in all logic, if you have a board where the overwhelming majority of posters are adults, and sections for the discussion of relationships (which, call me crazy, almost always include sex), family, childbirth, etc, there will be graphic discussions.
