Absolutely not BS. I hate talking on the phone. My voice sounds so crappy, and I prefer writing anyways.

as i've grown older, i find that i HATE phone conversations... i actually prefer text messaging now. my ex hated it, and he felt like i never wanted to talk to him... however, the relationship ended for other reasons (although, that may have been part of the reason why we drifted apart).

I hate the phone too. I rather email, text, whatever than call people. I always feel like I am intruding/bothering.

I agree. It's definitely not bs. I'm the same way. I hate talking on the phone. My friends use to think I was weird because I would barely call but would IM and email with no problem.

Maybe BS, Maybe not. I have guy friends that give this same exact line to a girl (horrible I know) And they tell me the truth so I know it's a line. Then you have the people who really don't like talking on the phone! Are you guys just getting to know one another? I ask because if I was just getting to know someone, I want to have an actual conversation where I can hear his voice! I don't think that's too much to ask.

Then again I'm not shy and have always been a "talker". If I'm just getting to know someone there is plenty to talk about. If there is an uncomfortable silence I simply say "let's talk later" "or "I'll call you back"

I'm a girl and I don't particular love talking on the phone. Something about it is awkward to me! I prefer to talk in person, and often make plans through text message lol! The less I talk on the phone, the better! But if the guy isn't even trying to make plans with you through some means, then that's not good. Also if it is long distance, then I guess you would depend a lot on the phone so that excuse is null and void.

I hate using the phone too, and unless its absolutely necessary I avoid it at all costs. But I'm sure its because of the way I was raised, my dad wouldn't let me talk on the phone for more than a few minutes, he said that was plenty of time to say what you needed to say. So now I just get my point across and hang up.

No, I don't think it's BS. I hate talking on the phone and don't contact other over the phone unless I absolutely have to. I'm also not one to talk on the phone for a long time. I say what I hvae to say and then hang up

if i can accomplish something via email or text, i prefer to do it that way. i find phone calls inconvenient, my life is busy...i hate to have the phone in my ear all the time.

For some people it could be legitimate, depending on the circumstance. As in the case with myself, depending on the person, I'd much rather text message than have an actual voice conversation...

I guess I'm old school but I prefer the phone to text messaging, AIM, etc. then again a phone (corded, no less!!) was all I had back way back in the dinosaur ages...

ETA: sorry, I didn't answer OP's question...based on the responses on this thread sounds like many people don't like to talk on the phone so maybe it is an honest response.

I LOVE talking on the phone, and dh HATES it!!!!! During the work week we may talk to each other for one minute during the day!!!
