Arrow IMPORTANT about Relationships & Family Forum
I wanted to address some issues that I have seen recently in the Relationships & Family subforum. It is not our intention that this sub forum is geared towards sex. I am not saying that it is totally geared toward that now, but many threads have come up that are far beyond PG-13, and that is what we intended for it to be.

Simply put, the content of this section needs to be PG-13. By that I mean nothing sexually graphic. Think of what you would see in a PG-13 movie and try to make that be the limit for your posts. Some of the posts and threads recently have really been too sexual for what we want this forum to be. This is a purse forum after all and all of these threads are being indexed by search engines.

This is a hard line to draw - and because of that, some threads will be closed or edited that some of you may not think need to be. You can PM either Sunshine or I to ask about it (we are both mods in this section). But from now on we will use our discretion to edit or close threads.

We see this section being a place for advice about relationships, friends, and family. The topic of sex is integral in relationships, but it is not a main point to be discussed here. I am sure there are many other forums where it can be discussed.

I hope this makes sense and we can go forward this way. Thanks everyone!

Point well taken. I have noticed an increased amount of "sexual" posts too. It's easy to forget that there are younger members on here and as a mom - I am usually quite aware of what people can view online. I will make sure I take this into consideration. Thanks for the reminder Megs.

Another thing that's worth mentioning is that even though you might think your posts here are anonymous, they aren't. Just recently I found myself in a situation where someone I know created a username for themselves, figured out who I was here and got personal information I posted about myself from this very subforum. Thankfully, what I posted wasn't overly personal but it was information that I wouldn't have otherwise told this individual. When you are posting online in a forum dealing with love, relationships and family issues you really have to be careful.

I still say we have a Sex Sub-forum where you have to have your age verified in order to view/post topics.

I don't think that's a very good idea. As adults everybody has their own personal limits of what they would like to see/hear in media. Having a standard guideline (such as PG-13) is a good idea.

If there were such a sub-forum I'd predict it would rapidly become very explicit, people who were uncomfortable with such explicitness would be told to be more broad minded and accept it or go take a hike, there would be trolls galore and the moderator would have a nervous breakdown.

Thanks Megs, got it. I think people can easily find another forum for that particular subject if they REALLY want to talk about it lol.

Excellent post!

If members really 'must' discuss sex and be explicit, there are plenty of forums out there for that, I am sure. And if someone 'must' discuss this subject explicitly with their tPF friends...do what some friends and I did when we were interested in discussing political matters...find a forum that does that and invite your friends to join you there for discusssion. I don't think it is realistic to expect one forum to meet all of one's online 'needs'.

Thank you to Megs and Vlad for all they do in looking out for everyone's best interests!

Thank youuu Megs; I've been getting nervous at the titles of some of the threads, lol.

Plus, I don't want this site to come up when people google topics like that, and then have some creepos looking at our usernames/info who otherwise wouldn't be!
