I wanted to avoid it and by no means does this have anything to do with the OP's body, because what was said to her was rude doesn't matter what she looks like!
Yes you can be chubby at 105 lbs. My boyfriend's little sister is chubby at 4'9 and 103lbs. But people tell her the same thing "103lbs oh thats skinny!". You really have to take height into consideration when looking at weight not just the number. I'm almost 5'5 and if I weighed that little I'd be a gonner cause I'm a small and children sizes when I'm at 135lbs. Again the numbers are all relative.

They're rude. There's nothing to it other than the fact that they're completely tactless and criticize others to make themselves feel better.

You know what? I have no idea how big/small/tall/short the OP is. But I just want her to know that I am friends with two young girls who are quite large but they are, by far, the most beautiful people that I know.
They light up the room. They don't wear makeup and arn't interested in fashion but everyone swarms to them. They will make you laugh for hours and no one I know has a single bad word to say about them.

Infact, I heard a girl say "Yeah, theyre nice but theyre kinda big."
The guy that was listening said "And your point is? Sorry, but I think theyre stunning. They dont judge people by their size either so they've obviously already got one up on you now."

I love remembering this... it reminds us that we're all beautiful, inside and out. And that Im sending you hugs and positive energy OP. Dont let anyone get you down!

I don't think 4'9 and 103 pounds is chubby. In fact, a 4'9 103 pound person has a lower BMI than a 5'5 135 pound person...

The OP posted that she's 5'2" at 105 lbs - which most would consider very slim. However she also posted she's Asian, so it's not consider slim at all by other Asians (not all just a number of Asians). There is the magical 90 lbs you're "suppose" to weigh without considering height. Regardless of the number, if you don't look very skinny - you are consider fat. That's just the way it is.

I think the usual train of thought is that being under 100lbs is skinny. The triple digit number scares a lot of Asian girls.

I will never forget going clothes-shopping in Taiwan, at 5'2" and 105 lbs at the time (slim but "skinny soft" -- not toned at all)....and the shop girls there looking at me and guessing me as a size medium or large. And they were right -- in Taiwan, I am a size M/L!

I had the same experience the first time that I shopped in Asia, and that's when I was a bit lighter than I am now. I've found that it varies a bit between Asian countries. At 5", 100lbs, I'm an XXS or 00P in the US; however, I am a M/L in Singapore but a S/M in Hong Kong. I forget what I am in Japan. But all pants are still too long no matter what country I'm in! Despite going from "tiny" to "large", I'm still short!

Haha I think I was an XL in Tokyo! I was 5'3 and 115 lbs. Hilarious.. and I recall when I went to Saigon, my size 7.5 feet were gawked at in the clothing stores.

Ami Kio and Bisousx -- SO FUNNY! It's sooo interesting how skewed size perception is in Asia versus and the west. I feel petite here at home in the U.S. (size 0), but in Asia, I am a freakin' HEIFER!!!!

ETA: whenever I stop by my local bubble tea shop and see those HK pop videos playing, I am amazed. All the little pop starlets look EXACTLY the same: 5' or 5'1", teeny tiny bones, 85 to 90 lbs, with very westernized looking faces (large eyes, oval shaped face, pointed nose)....and of course, TONS of blue eye shadow! These pop stars are SO tiny, I could sit on them and crush the heck out of them!

So true! I told my non-Asians female colleagues before I am consider medium sized or aka kind of chubby/fat in my culture. They were in shock because they would constantly tell me how skinny I am.

KristyDarling: It's funny but my dad (and other asians) would give me warnings about not eating too much chocolate, chips, etc. so that I don't become a heifer, elephant, whale, etc. overnight, I mean what's up with all those animal analogies?! In fact I think heifers, elephants and whales are very cute!

xlana: the triple digit freaks my older sister out!

i'm 5'2" and 90 pounds. of course i always wear the smallest size in any store (if i can fit in their clothes at all). when i went to korea, though, all i got was, "my, you are HUGE! we can tell you're american!" and i was a LARGE there.

OP, you and i have the same measurements!

I know how you feel. I am Asian too, and the moment I gain a pound, I hear from relatives that "you should exercise a little more" or "you shouldn't eat that dessert". It's a cultural thing, I think. They believe that they are helping you.

That said, don't let the comments affect your self-esteem. I think you are at a healthy weight. Just tell yourself, I am a strong and beautiful woman! (It sounds cheesy but it works for me, lols!)

Dang. I guess I'd be a ginormous whale to those two women, LOL!

OP, big hugs to you. That was flat out RUDE for them to say that. And it's simply not true!
