I remember becoming a major gym rat and losing about 15-20 lbs to please my family but when I got home, what happened? It became the "you're too unhealthy and skinny" talks again. *sigh* Could never please them. I stopped trying after that but it was a huge lesson for me to be comfortable with my body.
Im addicted to the gym, I do alot of running (I run about 20-23kms - 4/5 times a week) and also do weight training. I gained weight on the scales (about a stone). I was shocked. I eat well but like most people have the odd slip up i.e bread or chocolate, but nothing major. I wear size small (about a us 2/4). I just cant understand it!? Can muscle really weight that much?

I was really upset. You mentioned you went to the gym alot and lost weight. How did you do that? I know everyones body is different. Im defo one of those people who need only look at fatty foods and il gain weight.

Alot of posts here mention asian. I presume from the way people are talking on here asian people are naturally slim?

I dont mean to sound like a freak here but could an asian person give like a typical run down of what theyd eat in a day?

I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND CAN CALL A GIRL WHO WEIGHS 105LBS FAT???? 110% Jealous, I hope you wont let these horrible cows upset you.

105 lbs is not, has never been, and will NEVER BE fat. Their comments are rude and uncalled for. Ignore them. I'm sure you're gorgeous!

No we're not talking about Asian girls who are naturally slim, we're talking about how most Asian cultures seems to be very concerned with superficial issues such as weight, and put an unncessarily high emphasis on it. Even a girl who is slim, 100lbs, will be called "fat" if she was originally let's say 95lbs but gained 5lbs for some reason. A lot of us Asian women here are boycotting that ridiculous statement, that you would call someone fat or overweight when they clearly are not.

I was wondering the same thing. The only way I lose weight is to slow down on eating, eat fruits & drink a lot of water. When I go to the gym, I seem to gain more lbs. Don't know why. Maybe working out makes me hungry & I eat more???

Holy s-word...I thought for sure this was going to be something I can relate with...but not at all!

I am pregnant and well over 200 pounds, and am waiting to run into a certain someone and receive that same comment...but holy cow!

Honey...you are NOT fat. No person on the planet weighing 105 pounds is fat. Or chubby. Or anything!

Oh my gosh...BIG HUGS!!!!!!! I hope that you are able to see your beautiful self and know that those women are full of it!

I think you shouldn't be shy to speak up.. For example somebody says "you are fat" You answer "no i'm not! I look great"... and let them deal with their own delusions
I have lived among a hispanic culture for about 10 years..where almost everygirl is 'voluptuous and full figured" some look great some don't I don't care, it's not my realty, nor my body shape.... But people always tell me how "skinny" i am ...and i'm not skinny I'm in the middle of a normal weight for my height.. I say "well you think that b/c you are used to see heavier people but if you put me next to kate moss you'll see I am not really skinny" LOL

105 not chubby at all, they're probably jealous since they are 2x bigger than you and even if you are chubby (i'm not saying you are) they shouldn't say that to you anyways. I'm asian and I understand in an asian perspective they may think that way when I visited an asia country it was so hard to find clothes I'm a size 0 in jeans and I couldn't find any jeans that fit me, I would always have to get the largest size so they obviously have different standards in weight. I'm and 5'1' and 110lb I grew up with friends that didn't even hit 100lbs some people say I'm anorexia and some say I'm fat. I can't be both and I'm not either, I'm perfectly fine with the BMI standards. (didn't mean to intrude but just wanted to share something).

I have Asian gal friends who weigh 97 pounds after giving birth to 2/3 kids.
And gal friends who weigh 100 lbs at 5'5. Yes, that is considered normal some people. Some folks have high metabolism!

Don't forget that many Asian gals are very fine boned. But Asians do come in all sorts of sizes and shapes.

I'm Asian too and was always considered fat no matter what my weight was. But I never had a typical Asian body as I was top heavy. I used to get upset by asian family members and friends comments but now that I am older I don't care what they think.

At least you have boobs!

Lots of my friends complain about their lack of boobs. In Asia, there is a roaring trade in bust enhancement creams and what not.

Trust me, the men would never complain about your body!

I'm asian, 5'5" and around 140 pounds (that's me in my avatar), so I'm considered big in my family as my mom is only about 105 pounds and my sister in law is only about 90 pounds! I get called fat by my parents all the time, but men seem to like my body as they say they like curves! My bf loves me the way I am and told me that he likes that I have a healthy body.

Therefore, to some asians, 105 lbs may be chubby or fat depending on OP's height.

But in any respect, telling OP that she is point blank fat is just blame rude!
That's very true. My friend is Chinese and she was lying on her stomach on her bed one day when her mom came in and pointed out how huge her butt was and how much it stuck out from her body (she's probably the skinniest person I know). But then again, that was her mother-not that it makes the comment acceptable, but it's really none of a strangers business.

I am a 50 year old Italian American woman. Today I'm going to the beach and have to put a bathing suit on for the first time this summer. I WISH I weighed 105 pounds, or even 115!!!
But let me give you just a tiny big of advice as an older woman. Enjoy yourself just as you are!! 105 is a fantastic weight for you, it's what I weighed when I got married 26 years ago. Some day you'll look back at those pictures of yourself today and say, Damn, I looked great! So why not relax and enjoy how fantastic you look right now. Don't worry about your aunts, parents, anyone! Enjoy your youthful good looks and eat some ice cream and wear the clothes that make you FEEL good!!! Don't get hung up on weight issues, leave that for those who are seriously overweight. Have fun being you right now!!!!!
