Just what the title says, how often?



DH and I used to say it quite often to eachother, and then he just started saying it less and less...of course, me being the paranoid person I am, thought something was up and asked him and he just said that he think it's best not to overuse it, since it would then lose its meaning and power, which is very true

All the time. We've been married for almost 17 years, and we say it at the end of every phone call,when we wake up and sometimes for no reason, other than to say it to one another. He also blows kisses into the phone before he hangs up. It hasn't lost any meaning, it just reminds each other how much we care.

He's probably right -- it can become a habit instead of a heart-felt statement. When I say it to my parents, it's not that I don't mean it, but it's become a routine - at the end of each phone call - I dont' even think about it anymore.

With DF, it's different. We usually say it before bed, and then sometimes at other times during the day -- now that I think about it, we don't usually say it in the morning unless we had a disagreement/serious discussion the night before. When he's out of town, we usually say it at the end of phone calls too.

Unless there's other stuff going on that makes you think something is up (like DH working lots of overtime when he never did before, strange secret phone calls, etc.), I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably just what he said - no need to overuse it or say it just out of habit.

I've been with DH for 17years total. We don't say it all the time, once in a while before bed, or after doing the nasty, or if we are cuddling.
In times of stress and duress I find we say it to eachother much more often though.

Nah, I don't worry about it I know things are good between DH and I I'm just one of those worry warts that think the whole world is going to end just because I spilled something...Know what I mean?

And that's what I think he meant...that it can become a routine. I know with my last partner, we said it all the freaking time and now that I look back on it, I only said it because that's the only way I knew how to hang up the phone with him, how to fill the silence, etc. It just kinda became a "filler" phrase, even though we did love eachother.

we probably say it several times a day. For me it's not routine or habit. I may look across the room and see him doing something cute and think to myself "God I love him" and then I'll tell him.

We tell each other when we hang up the phone to go to bed (since we don't live together yet). Also if we meet for lunch he may say "You look great today, chin up for a good day and I love you". Something like that just makes me feel a lot better heading back to work, KWIM?

Basically anytime we go to sleep, leave one another {work or other} and before we ever hang up the phone.

Dh and I say it all of the time, at least once per day. It never loses its meaning. After 10yrs, we mean it just as much now as we did years ago.

We don't actually say it much to each other....I think the showing it - little things he does mean more and tell me how he feels:

like the way he makes me stop while I'm running around like mad to give me a hug and slow me down,
or gets me sushi (which he hates) when he knows I'm working late and not feeling well...
or while channel surfing he finds a cheezy movie that I love (and he doesn't) and selects that channel while handing me the remote.......
gets up out of bed early to go to starbucks, and closes the door to let me sleep longer....

I have to say that my DH is so good at saying it everyday......me not so much. I always remember to say it befor we go to sleep though.
