Well I think I'm from the norm cupcake, I never really expected to s/o to really be interested in my interests, she'd ask about them but never really participated and it was fine by me, I had time to do my hobbies.

As for her interests I actually really liked her hobbies, like I put myself out there to learn salsa dancing and yoga among other things. I think you sometimes you just have to put yourself out there, who knows you may find a new hobby.

He is rebuilding a Tahiti speedboat and said it hurt him that I don't spend time researching those things specifically.

I'm more than willing to sit there with him while he goes through the specifics but I know absolutely nothing about the mechanics of boats and cars and engines etc....and don't even know where to start...he has taken classes on these things and taught himself. I have no experience whatsoever.

What do you guys do in a situation like this? Today when I get off work and go to see him I want to ask him about his boat and what he needs to rebuild it but as far as trying to figure out the stuff on my own, what do you suggest?

Has anyone had a similar experience?
That's really sweet he takes an interest in what you like. My exbf didn't have a clue what I liked... Nor did he care. But my current dbf of almost 6 years does... He now knows all about Louboutins and LV and the Y&R hahaha

I don't think you need to go in detail about cars/boats etc cause that's boring. My dbf loves all things male... He's a BIG sports and car guy.

What do I do? My dbf plays baseball and hockey in men's adult leagues. I try to attend evry game. Some of the guys on his team's girlfriends NEVER go... And they all say to my dbf how lucky he is. Mind you, attending a baseball tournament isn't the most FUN thing... But you get by. I bring a friend, bring a magazine, bring my shih tzu...etc.

Perhaps next time there's a boat show in town... Plan a surprise date and get tickets. I live in Toronto and there's a large boat show here every winter. I get tickets for my dbf and I attend the auto show (sounds boring) but kinda fun getting to sit in all the different cars.

Good luck OP!

^^OP
Just remembered about my ex-
My ex had a boat as well. I would look into places that were like resorts a few hours away. Some of these resorts have marinas on site where you can dock your boat for a fee and stay at the hotel/resort. We would spend our weekends boating.I'm not sure where you live... But I just thought of that.

I think it's something that should just occur naturally. For example, my DH was never into baseball before we met. I am a huge Red Sox fan. Now, he's just as into it as I am and we have visited 11 different MLB stadiums...

I wouldn't force your SO to "like" anything he's not into, and I don't think he should force you too.. however you should just pay attention to his interests and the learning will come
