Thanks everybody! Well as my previous thread described we actually split up because he finally realized and admitted to himself and to me that he was afraid of marriage. There was never any doubt that we loved each other, but he just had to sort through his apprehensions about marriage. I started going to counseling and he came with me a few times but he felt so uncomfortable there that he stopped going. I was upset at first that he stopped wanting to go, but now I realize that it was probably doing more harm than good for him to be there if he didn't want to be there. We put a lot of distance between us so he could sort himself out. It was really hard for me but I just had to force myself to give him the space he needed/wanted. Come to find out, he began to confide in a few of his trusted friends and really did some soul searching about exactly where his apprehensions about marriage were coming from.

He called me last friday night to see if he could come over to watch a Formula One race on sunday morning. I have the cable station that its on and he does not. I said ok, even though I thought it was a little strange. So he got here at around 7am and he started watching the race. About 30 minutes into it, I started reading a book and he turned off the TV and asked if we could talk. I got nervous - when does a guy turn OFF the TV during an important sporting event to TALK? lol.

So we start talking and he starts telling me that he is going to be changing jobs and that he will have to move basically across the country in the next month or so. I am sitting there heartbroken because I think he is basically telling me we will need to say goodbye. So I'm listening and trying to keep from bursting into tears and he was telling me everything that transpired that made it that he needed to move. Then he says that I am the most wonderful woman that he has ever met and that there is no one else out there better for him. I say "okaaaay" and he says "and I want to spend my life with you." I say "okaaaay" I didn't put it together that this was the beginning of a marriage proposal - I think I was just so in shock about everything. lol. So I was just sitting there kind of confused trying to figure out what he was meaning, and then he stood up, pulled this red box out of his pocket, got down on one knee, opened the box and proposed. I honestly can't even remember exactly what he said, I may not have even waited for him to ask. It was SO overwhelming! I went from thinking that he was moving away from me and giving up on us, to being proposed to.

We spent yesterday moving his stuff to my place and so now we are officially living together! 3 years of dating and we have never lived together until now! To each his own, and I know a lot of people live together before getting engaged/married - but I really think it's cool that we waited! :)

Of course he still has to move and we are looking at options for me getting a job out where he is going or him moving back here after a few months... or we may just pick a whole new place and both move there! It's quite exciting!
