Default Anniversary Gift?
Hi Everyone!!
I need a little help with an anniversary present for my husband. I have no clue what to get him. He has never hinted about what he would like. I know want to get him or do something memorable but I guess since I am anxious about it I can't really think! I hope you all can give me some suggestions or ideas. TIA!!!

How about instead of a gift you give him an event? Maybe fly somewhere for a special dinner, or get one of those helicopter rentals that fly you over landmarks, or something like that? Not sure what part of Texas you live in, but there must be some unique ideas out there...
Or..is there something that he maybe secretly wanted but really won't buy for himself? Like tickets to a sporting event, where he can take one of his buddies for a guy's night out?

Which anniversary? And how much do you want to spend?

I live about an hours drive from the gulf of Mexico. I'd like something more for just the 2 of us. I was thinking of us going on a fishing trip together. He loves fishing. I've never really fished. I never mentioned it to him but just a few days ago he decides he wants to go on a guided fishing trip with one of his friends AND HE DID! So that took the air out of my balloon! He's an outdoorsy kinda guy so I am NOT sure of what we can do now.

It's our 8 year anniversary about 1500 max on my end. Usually it's been dinner somewhere and a gift. I mean it's nice and all but I want to do something memorable.

Happy anniversary, Sonya! Here's a website with "traditional", "modern" and "travel" gifts/ideas.

http://honeymoons.about.com/cs/shopp...ersarygift.htm

In your situation, hmmmm. Is there an outdoor "dude" ranch or something near where you live for a weekend getaway? That might be a fun and memorable trip for the two of you.

Would you consider fishing in another location?

What about going to a big city and staying in a fancy hotel, having a nice dinner? Vegas? You could also take a cool helicopter ride over the Strip!

Or going to an "outdoorsy" place like the Grand Canyon or southwestern Utah for hiking/camping?

How about a weekend at that gorgeous hotel La Mansion in San Antonio? It looks like it would be the perfect place for a nice romantic weekend getaway!

Any updates? :) I've been having the same problem as you, similar budget, and have no idea what to do for this year's anniversary. Last year, he told me what he wanted so I just bought it, but I sort of feel "eh" about gifts like that, it just seems so thoughtless... so wanting to do something more. Keep the suggestions coming! :) And good luck OP on your decision!

I haven't decided I think I am going to leave it up to him. Our anniversary is on the 15th of June not too far off! He mentioned the other day he wanted a Thompson Center 270 for deer hunting this year. He's been using his grandfather's rifle. He just recently had it refinished and wanted to put it away and keep it as an heirloom, his grandfather passed away in the early seventies before he was born. I was thinking about maybe getting him that. My Mom in-law already said she'd watch the kids this weekend. I just need to solidify the plans... I know I'd really enjoy a spa weekend but he's a bit to "MANLY" for that sorta thing.

I finally ran the idea of us going deep sea fishing together but he said I'd never make it, that I'd be puking my head off and that would suck, so oh well. Maybe bay fishing we'll see.

Go for a hot air balloon ride for two (plus the navigator) it's outdoors and he will love it!! My sister did this with my aunt a couple of years ago and they loved it!!
