Best idea ever. I sent a note to my mother just reminiscing about her parents (both deceased) and how much I missed them. She called me up in tears to thank me for it, saying it was so nice to have them acknowledged like that.

I also thanked her on my wedding day (first marriage) for trying so hard to guide me and told her she had been right about a lot of things and that I wished I had listened to her more growing up.

Moms need to hear these things.

My parents easily could have been speaking a foreign language to me when I was a teen and everything that they said I found offensive...simply because I didn't understand.
My mother and I have gotten close and my father and I have gotten closer. I'm now 26. I think "I get it" type comments definitely help.

Give it another decade, girl, and you'll really understand her, LOL, not to mention when you hit your forties...

You live and learn, that's the way it's meant to be..you're not supposed to get everything when you're a kid...

And in-laws...whoa, don't get me started...
