Which hardware on RM do you prefer & why?

I am just curious which one people like better. I totally prefer the old hardware..I wish the tassels were a bit shorter...I took the one off of the front zipper, but don't mind the one on top...I don't mind the chunky zippers on the new, but I love the look of the old hardware more...I like the plain hooks on the side and the rivets(not sure if that is what you call them) over the new RM hardware....Just wanted to see how others felt

I like both the new and the old but if you had to make me choose I would pick the old hardware. It seems more classic to me and less bling bling if you know what i mean. I love the old brass colored hardware that goes with my gorgeous black/blue stamp MAM. Its toned down so its not too flashy which is perfect for a night out. I think it looks more classy and timeless too.

The new hardware is gorgeous though, my Tangy Mam has it and although I love it, I would still go with the older hardware. The new hardware is flashy and eye catching but I'm not such a fan for the "RM" that is stamped everywhere. The RM is on the bottom of the feet, the zippers, and the little buttons under the handles. Its not too noticable but I think it would have been cleaner w/o all of it.

I know I feel the old is more classic and the new is too flashy and bling..It is a bit over powering .I am preordering a wine nikki and I wish it could be with the old hardware..maybe the new hardware wont stand out as much on a bigger bag like the Nikki....I would rather the name not be all over the hardware...

i like both hardware styles. i prefer the tassels more. Maybe the new hardware with shorter tassels on it.

That would be ideal for me.

I prefer the old, when I preordered the MAM in tangerine I thought I was getting the old hook, I am very disappointed with the new hook, it is not made as well as the old, I am afraid to touch it because it feels like it will fall apart.

Although I love the color of the new hardware -- I think it coordinates so well with in my Tangy MAM -- I prefer the old one too. The "RM" hardware isn't completely blingy but I prefer the cleaner look... it's what drew me to RM in the first place.

i agree with desiprinzess, i love the clean look of the new hardware on the mams and mabs, but i prefer the tassels on the matinees.

I prefer the old BUT I love the hardware connecting the straps on the new one. Since it's bigger it gives a slightly longer drop which makes all the difference for carrying the bag over my shoulder more comfortably. I don't like the new gold hardware on all the bags, but on my violet MAM I think it's a gorgeous combo.

2. is there a difference in quality between the two?

3. is there a difference in weight of the 2 hardware types (do you find the new hardware heavier than the old?)

I don't think either hardware is very heavy I like the old hardware on the nikkis and the new hardware on the mams and mabs, thought I really love my new, silver hardware on my Ocean Nikki~~

I love the shiny, light gold color of the new hardware as well as the engravings and the side clasps, however, I prefer the old hardware because it is less conspicuous. The new hardware is thicker and more substantial (though not heavier) - and is overall a lot more blingy. Still beautiful, though - especially on some colors like the stone.

Depends on the bag style and color. In general though, I prefer old HW for MA/MAM in the more classic colors (Gray, Navy, Browns, Black, Wine, Emerald) and new for louder/brighter colors (Tangerine, Ocean, Fuschia etc...) - kinda like conservative (but not boring) vs younger/fresher. The nikki is more of a toss up for me.

I think both are high quality HW - weight is comparable. The new HW is def a little more showy and "blingey"

I like the new hardware - I think it's more polished, and it goes nicely with the new, softer leathers.

I rather agree with what 3snuffles says about liking the old hardware on classic, conservative colors, but liking the new hardware on bolder, more vibrant colors.

One thing I love about the older hardware, and the reason I dearly wanted it when buying my black MAB (with blue zipper! Thanks Tomifey!), is how it is subtly equestrian. My love of great leather is somehow tied in with my love of all things horsey. So I like that look a lot.

I love the new hardware.. its more bling... I just wish they can do something abt the zipper of the inside pocket. I wish they can match it to the one outside?
