My Mint Nikki reveal thread has the mixed Nikki hardware. The mixed hardware on the MAM's/MAB's are the bags with the SHORT tassels attached to zipper pulls with dog clip hardware on the sides. Before this was the signature hardware with the RM stamp on it, and before that was the style with the long tassels in place of zipper pulls and dog clip hardware. Hope that helps. Search around for other threads and I am sure you can find more info.

i just received my Chocolate Nikki with mixed hardware and i have say that i LOVE it. i think the details are really nice, where RM name is stamped into the gold, the chunky zipper. mixed hardware works on the Nikki. i agree with littlerock-- hate the signature hw on Nikkis!

for MAs i still think the old brass hardware and long tassels are the best. it really boils down to what your "look" is. i'm more casual and like the laid back look for the dog leash clasps.

but thumbs up to the mixed hardware! i like it!

I this post!!! I've been thinking the same thing about the stubby tassels!!! They definitely make the bag look totally cubby IMO!!!!!!

Now that the bags are out with this "mixed" hardware, does anyone else think perhaps the clips are shorter on the new mixed hardware bags? They look to be a different shape to me than the original HW clips.

Question: Is the new "mixed" hardware a more bright yellow gold than the signature light gold hardware?
I personally love the stamped sig light gold HW on my MAM's, in some lighting it looks almost silvery, but now I am interested in a particular MAM that has the new mixed HW, but I don't think I would like it if it was more "yellow". I am afraid to pull the trigger on it because I am not a fan of bright yellow shiny gold HW.
Anyone know about this? Any advice would be great!
Thanks!

Default RM Hardware.. can it be cleaned successfully?
I am now the proud owner of 2 RM bags.. a wine Nikki and a wine MAB.. the hardware on both seem to be a little clouded and or tarnished and Im wondering how to clean it without messing up the leather?

Please help?

^ There are many possible soultions to this webgerl. Some say that ketchup works.. but I, personally, use BRASSO.

Sure it smells strong and you have to be careful but it works WONDERS! Just use a small amount on a clean rag and polish away! It's like magic. But I don't clean my hardware too often because I don't mind the slightly tarnished look.

You will probably like the new "mixed" hardware then b/c that hardware doesn't tarnish.

I just compared my new "mixed" hardware bags to the light gold signature hardware and they match! At first I thought the mixed hardware was more a yellow gold but this is not the case now that I am comparing them.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for doing the comparison; that helps for future reference! In the pix, the new mixed HW definitely looks more yellow.

That is what I thought too but when I compared my actually bags side by side I couldn't see a difference. If it helps I can take some comparison shots for you.

I second the BRASSO recommendation if you have the old brass hardware, it did wonderful things for my nikki's old dingy hardware. I used it outside and didn't even notice the smell and it was so simple. Here's a picture! Before on the right obviously. The color of the before didn't bother me but it was filthy. The rag I used was disgusting afterward so I'm happy to have done it and the newly polished hardware glistens so nicely, it really woke the bag up.
