Default What should Nikki's hardware be like?

I got my wine Nikki this morning. I couldn't wait to touch it so I opened it at once. It is with the older version gold hardware and the white-blue strip lining. I noticed that the hardware (on the sides of the bag) looks a bit weird. It seems there is a darker coat on some portions of it, but I'm not sure if that is rust or it is the hand-made effect to make the bag look like a vintage.

Should the gold hardware look like that? I'm actually not very happy when getting a brand new bag like this. I'm considering return it to ShopBop.

Perhaps the brass has tarnished a bit. This is a common problem with brass hardware. I second that request for pics, to know for sure.

Could anyone give me any idea on this?

Sorry but I don't see anything wrong with this hardware.. totally normal. If you don't like it though you should def. return it OR ask them if they have a wine nikki with new hardware they can send you.

Yep, definitely tarnished. Try Brasso or jewelry cleaning cloth to rub it off. Good luck!

^^ maybe it my monitor then.. I can't see the tarnish. If it is tarnished Brasso will make it perfectly shiny again.

It's tarnished, but that is the "normal" look. Try C4H's suggestion of the Brasso!

Thank you so much ladies!

I just tried some tarnish remover I got from duane reade and it worked! I'm letting the bag hang with a heavy book right now, trying to make the leather break in more quickly.

Yep, that's the way it's supposed to look..I have tarnish remover for my original HW bags but can't bring myself to use it...I the tarnished look, it's a bit more edgy.

yup, this is why it's called "OLD" gold hardware -- not because it's the "older version" of hardware, but because it looks sort of old and worn in. i found that out with a Gryson bag i had. but the "NEW" gold hardware is shiny and tarnish-free. just a different look.
