i am so glad you started a thread on this, I recently ordered a wine nikki as well and i'm totally nervous that it won't come in perfect condition. My last purchase was a wine matinee and it had scruff marks in front of the bag that was just awful. thankfully i was able to send it back to RM to get it repaired (they replaced the whole front panel) but it took forever! I sure hope my nikki comes w/o a problem...ugh. :(

No way would mismatched leather be ok on a full price bag.

My ruby mini nikki from the sample sale has panels with different textures. For example, the right panel would be more pebblier than the left panel and it'll be the same on the other side. I guess it's somewhat consistent so I'm not sure if it was done intentionally to give it some character or a quality control issue.

I have a Nikki in the old "Cognac" color (similar to the Almond color), one side's leather is nicely evenly crumpled, the other half is SMASHED AND CRUMPLED like CRAZY!!!

It looks very strange! HOwever, if you turn it around, the difference is only semi-noticeable, but noticeable.

I kept it because I loooooove the cognac on my olive complexion....I got it for half off, as well.

On full price, it is absolutely inexcusable. Coach leather bags are cheaper, yet they don't have severe leather differences.

If I order preorder another Nikki, do you think they will let me order TWO so I can keep the better of the two, and return the worse?

There appears to be a disturbingly high rate of Nikki's with two-textured leathers. The appeal of the Nikki is its smooshy, glob of hobo-style, the two-texture completely kills it.

So I know RM has addressed this, but I'm still a bit concerned. I ordered a Nikki in Iris from RM.com, and I saw on an eBay listing that showed 2 differently textured panels on that bag:

So now I feel nervous... hopefully mine will be fine!

Oh wow, that is awful looking!!!! The leathers are so completely, utterly different that it almost looks photoshopped. I hope someone from RM will read this and realize that these mismatched nikki panels are truly appalling.

Ugh, that Iris is what mine looked like...I had blinders on for a few hours, but once I noticed it it was all I could stare at! RM has assured us that they will be working on this...hope it's soon because it's pretty bad!

Birki, just curious since I pre-ordered one too, did they give you a hard time about returning it? Did they exchange it for a different one, or did you get a refund (if you don't mind my asking)?

bumble1~ I'm getting a 1 for 1 exchange and RM definitely offer one of the best CS around..Codi had not only taken the initiative to contact me 1st, she was very friendly and patient throughout..now I'm patiently waiting for my wine nikki..

I wanted to preorder a Wine Nikki but paused because I was afraid I would get two mismatched leathers, which is common in the Nikki's, now I see...

I was also afraid they wouldn't let me exchange, because by the time I would receive mine to exchange, all of the rest would be sold out.

Which was why I was curious if they would allow TWO purchased, to keep the better of the two (it would majorly suck if both were mismatched panels), but my credit cards are way too close to their limits! Furthermore, there is a chance they would not allow a return.

I noticed that on my jade Nikki, although all the panels match, the leather was smooth when I first bought it (like the left side on the Iris pic) but now with a few weeks use the whole bag has become textured and wrinkled like the right side of the pic. So even if you're stuck with a mismatched bag if the texture is the only difference maybe it will even out over time?

I was really thinking about ordering a Nikki but with all the talk about mismatched leather I am wondering if I should. Is the mismatched leather only with new bags purchased? People who bought Nikkis lets say 6 months ago or more did you notice this also? Is this a new problem?
