She is not too picky about color...probably nothing to flashy or bright (no hot pinks or neon orange!). I'd like to find something other than black, though. I think a classic almond would be gorgeous...or even a deep purple...I know she likes red, so perhaps something in wine or burgundy?

I think burgandy would be great! How about a burgandy devote? I the devote because of the big opening, and ease of finding things. Ohhhh, a burgandy darling (if you can find one) would be great!

I love my stud Devote, but it is enormous. Does your mom like really large bags? Maybe a mini Devote would be a good choice since she is 5'1".

She doesn't like really huge bags, so possibly a mini Devote would be a better option. I know she'd like that style or a MAM....

On topic! BG, I thinks it's awesome that you'd like to get your mom a designer bag. My only advice is to consider weight, my mom (in her 50's) said my Nikki was heavy and I wasn't even carrying to full capacity. She says this with the MAM too. The more lightweight the better in this case, IMO. Darling perhaps? Great shoulder drop, good size. What's not to love? LOL

Good call, MissTiss! I never even thought about weight...mom carries alot of stuff in her bags, so its always heavy. Meaning, I should look at something fairly lightweight and spacious. Next time I visit the Fam, I might bring along a MAM and my Nikki and (casually) ask her if she likes them and have her 'try them on.' hehe, this will be fun!!!

Good luck! My mom carries EVERYTHING in her bag. I kid you not. I've even offered to help her downsize. Nada. She's funny. But let me tell you - she always has what you need. Kleenex. Check. Hand Sanitizer. Check. Q-Tips. Check. I'm trying to think of the weirdest thing I've ever found her to be carrying because she surprises me sometimes. If I remember, I'll report back. I remember cracking up. What was it!?

Oh well.

I think its my mom's wallet/checkbook that weighs so much...she carries all these photos, credit cards, bills, letters and etc in it...I'm like, 'Mom! Your wallet is busting at the seams!' I gave her a Kate Spade Agenda book for the photos and letters, but she never uses it...just goes back to the trusty checkbook/wallet. Its no wonder she needs a new one every couple years or so! :)

It's a great size, but the drop length of the strap is pretty short. I tried one on at a sample sale this summer and was disappointed that it felt uncomfortable and awkward on the shoulder. It kept me from buying it.
