The sterling is very shiny but not in a totally bling bling way.. it's a soft shine that I am really enjoying.. I think this is due to the silver hardware. If it had gold hardware it would be too much shine but the combination of the sparky leather & silver hardware is awesome. As for keeping clean I think it's easier than say a matte bag.. This bag is not easily scuffed since it is quite textured.. but I think you need to be fairly careful with it since it's a lighter colored bag. This doesn't bother me though b/c I am careful with ALL my bags anyway.

Hope this helps!!

It totally does!

Is the texture rough at all? I have a bulga that has a crackled-type finish and I love it but it doesn't get much use because it snags/pills a lot of my clothes... Have you had any problems like that with the sterling?

The texture is rough but not in the way that it will snag.. it is a smooth roughness LOL!! And TRUST ME WHEN I SAY this bag is not 13 year old glitter but rather a very gorgeous bag for the grown up woman in you!

I just ran to feel it really quickly and it is definitely textured but also smooth.. can't describe it. There is NO way that it will snag. Don't think of glitter but rather sparkly leather.. hth!

FYI- I remember reading a post about a sterling bag and it was a negative review.. this person had the clutch or make-up bag (can't remember which one) but it definitely was not the steady.. anyway this post always made me a bit scared of the sterling bags

However when I was at the SS I was able to find out that the "sterling" leather on the steady is TOTALLY DIFFERENT than the sterling Kiss & Make-up and I think the clutch.. They were made with a weird glitter or bead that falls off a little bit when touched.. so after reading this tpfer's review I was totally scared of the sterling steady.. well not to worry b/c it's a totally different material! The sterling steady is actually leather.. whereas I don't believe the smaller accessories are..

Littlerock, you are just making me want it even MORE.

Did they have them at the sample sale or did you just get the info at the sample sale?

(I'm really asking if they might be available at the Gilt sale)

I think your chances of getting one at the Gilt sale are high.. they seemed to have plenty of them at the ss sale -- and yes that is where I got mine.

I'm telling you, you will LOVE this bag.. it truly is gorgeous. Have you seen the pictures that I posted of mine? If not I will find the thread and bump it for you..

It's a fabulous bag. Love the shape, great strap, very cute. I really like the Dusty leather and had a Dusty steady but ended up returning it b/c the leather was all scratched when it arrived to me. But I think if you could get one pristine and treat it quickly to protect it, it would be a wonderful bag!

If you are looking for smooshy leather than don't get this bag!! I have smooshy leathered bags but the reason I like the sterling steady bag is b/c it's different and I like the texture! It is NOT rough like sandpaper -- it just isn't.

Here's the deal.. if you buy this bag thinking it's something that it isn't you are sure to be dissapointed. As for the sterling color not working on the bag I beg to differ. Everyone has their likes and disslikes so realy it's up to you to decide what you like.

If you are loooking for an everyday bag or smooshy leather than this bag isn't for you. If you are looking for something a bit different, a subtle pop of color and an overall really cool bag than you will love this one!

Here's the link to my pictures (make sure you're on page two)..

Group Pics of MAM's & Matinee!!

Edit to add: Hitchcockblonde is totally right about the dusty color. It is too easily scratched & scuffed.. I couldn't find one bag that wasn't scratched. It's unfortunate b/c I love the color but the leather is way too fragile.

The Sterling is encrusted leather, so it's obviously not going to be smooth. But if you're looking for a totally blingtastic bag that's going to get you noticed it's so amazing!

So to sum up:
It's not super smooshy (Littlerock, are your pictures of the bag with or without the stuffing?)
the leather is textured, but not rough (won't snag a sweater?)
It's more shimmery than chunky glitter spakly

Is all of that right?

Yes.. you've got it right..
- Bag is totally stuffed.. when not stuffed it collapses a bit..
- It is IMPOSSIBLE for this bag to EVER snag..there are NO raised pieces.. it's actually a polished bag believe it or not..
-Not exactly sure about your 3rd question but yes it is shimmery..

Default Steady Owners....Talk to Me!
So I have a love-hate relationship with hand-carry bags. I love the way they look but then after a while I get frustrated and switch back to my shoulder carry. I'm thinking the Steady will solve this problem for me? I can hand-carry or shoulder carry whenever I feel like it! I've already tried the MAM and sorry, it's not for me.

I tried doing a Google search but haven't really found much. Steady owners can you tell me what you like/love and dislike about the bag? Is the closure difficult? Also, what all colors does it come in? Do the stone combo's pick up dirt easily?

Right now I am leaning towards Night. Normally I don't like black bags...but this one seems to have some uumph, plus the leather looks yummy!! Is the Sterling silvery or gold? I can't tell from online pics. Any pics/modeling shots would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!!

LOVE THE STEADY!! It's sexy when using the smaller handles at the elbow, but very practical b/c of the longer strap. I love being sexy but when I"m trying to juggle my gym bag, groceries, and my daughter in two arms, sometimes the long strap is necessary. I'm waiting for my second steady now. I think you'll love it. And the leather is awesome.

Oh and my first was the "sterling" - it's a light gold. Plus it has silver hardware so it really goes with both. It's stunning IRL. I need to post pix but I've been lazy about posting. Maybe buy from a place where you can return. That way you have options. Pretty sure you'll keep it though.
