Default RM Newbie needs advice :)
Hi ladies!! First, let me just say that I found this website two weeks ago and have since purchased THREE bags. Eeeek. I'm still trying how to figure out how to make my DF think they've been in the closet forever...

Anyway, I've managed to get some really great deals (at least I think so) but I'm having trouble deciding which bags to keep/exchange.

So far, I have a Nikki in a very light grey color that is actually at the shop being dyed black. My dogs got black ink all over it so it's getting the TLC it deserves.

Next I bought a MAM in chocolate with gold hardware. I got it for $275 and I really love it. The color isn't as dark as I would expect chocolate to be....

Here's the dilemma though - I was at Off Saks yesterday and they're having a 35% off designer sale. I spotted a few RM bags that I fell in LOVE with. I ended up buying the Devote bag in Peacock. Love love love the color peackock. They had the same bag in Fawn which I actually liked a little better in the style but felt it would be too similar to the new chocolate bag (similar for me - since I don't have a large collection I'm trying to get something in each color family first before I start buying seconds if that makes sense). I think I would get alot more use out of the Fawn color since it's a neutral. Saks also had a MAM in peacock. Prices were realy great for both bags - I paid $307 for the devote and the mam will be around $280. My dilemma on this one is do I exchange the peacock deveote for fawn devote, knowing I'll get more use out of it? But then that leaves me with no peacock :( Should I get the peacock MAM and the Fawn devote? I love the size of the MAM and I love that the peacock MAM has siggy hardware.

Last I just got in the mail a plum studded nikki. This was a good deal too at less than $400 Gotta be honest - it wasn't love at first sight. I've been second guessing myself since I ordered it and think I like it better in Envy. But it seems like ALOT of gold on the bag which I'm not sure I love. I just can't decide.

Hope I made some sense. I'm a HUGE sucker for a good deal so I don't really know if I'm just lovin on these bags because I got good deals or what.

Hi! I'm a newbie too and let's just say I have been dreaming about which bags I want for the past week lol. DH has been wondering what I am doing online everymorning looking at the same bags over and over again, trying to decide which one to buy first.
I actually have a black stud devote that I will be returning today; after much debate it is just not what I'm looking for. I'd rather get some other ones, I will use more.
In my opinion, I think you should get the devote in Fawn and the MAM in peacock. Return the devote peacock and the chocolate MAM (if necessary:)).

By the way, where did you find these great deals other then Off 5th?

thanks!

hello and welcome! RM addiction hits you hard and fast, i speak from personal experience! i think if i were in your shoes, i would get the fawn devote and the peacock MAM-- it sounds like you're really drawn to the fawn devote and think you can get a lot more use out of it, and i do love the siggy HW on the peacock MAM. you can also keep the choco MAM if you love it since i think it's different enough from fawn and the MAM is a great style. i would return the plum studded nikki if you're not in LOVE with it bc it sounds like you like the other 3 bags more. good luck on your decision! (you really can't lose, they're all lovely bags!)

i would exchange the peacock devote for the fawn and also get the MAM in peacock with siggy HW and in a color you love and a style thats fantastic its totally worth it. I would also keep the chocolate i think its a great color that will grow on you more especially since you like the Fawn and the MAM and Devote are such completely different styles that have same color family is totally fine. If you arent liking the Nikki with studs I would go ahead and return (if thats possible) or sell on ebay. You clearly have other bags in colors/styles that you LOVE and its not worth it for you to keep one that you just arent feeling!

hope that helps!! Congrats with your new collection!!!!

Hi, welcome to RM! I agree with the other ladies...I would return the peacock devote for the fawn one and get the MAM in peacock. I wouldn't worry to much about colors overlapping...get what you truly love rather than what seems to make more sense. I used to do that, but ended up missing out on some bags that I truly love. Now, I go for the bags that are love at first sight, even if that means I have several bags in the same color or color family. RM comes out with so many colors and leathers each season, it will be hard not to have some overlapping in colors. HTH!

^^ good point

i did exactly that ... my first rm purchase was a navy croc MAC and then my second purchase was a nautical blue MAM ... both are navys but i cant help it i love the color navy and i love the navy leathers that RM uses. it doesnt matter that they are both the same color i know i will get tons of use out of each because i just love them so much....and thats the most important thing, that you truly love your bags!!!

Thanks ladies I'm going to call Saks and see if they can hold the fawn devote for me. It was the last one left so hopefully nobody snagged it!! I was shopping without my 1 year old for the first time in forever and didn't have much time so I rushed my decision yesterday. Maybe I'll return the stud nikki to pay for the peacock MAM. I know I want to buy at least one more bag at the black friday sale if that happens as RM promised. Ahhhh decisions decisions.

Anyway, I'm glad I found a group of ladies who understand the want, the desire, the NEED for RM bags. My fiancee just thinks I'm a nut and my friends think I'm craaaazy for spending $$ on bags.

Ohhh, and I got the good deals online - I got the choco MAM at shoprapunzel (which was awesome to order from ) and the stud nikki at Aster Alice. They had a new customer code of 20% or something that sealed the deal for me.

Welcome to TPF!

I agree with the above posters as well, you should get the fawn Devote and return the peacock, but get the MAM in peacock, since you will probably get the most use out of them this way. They are both great styles and colors, so you really can't go wrong with either of them, but this seems to be the best for you since you want to have a wide variety of colors.

I agree about keeping the chocolate MAM though, because in my experience with chocolate bags they do grow on you, and considering it is the fall/winter season, now is the perfect time for a chocolate bag (or a peacock one in my opinion, lol - who says winter is all about the neutrals!) Also, fawn and chocolate aren't necessarily in the same color family, as yes they are both neutrals but the fawn and chocolate are so different in color from light to dark, it is fine to keep both of them because you will probably get equal use out of each one.

I'm not a huge fan of the Nikki anyway - it's ok but the only one I own doesn't see much other than the inside of it's dustbag because I have other bags that I go for first in that color family. If you're not loving it, then it would be better to exchange it or sell it because you probably won't see as much use out of it. I want to sell mine, but it is a gift from my boyfriend so it has sentimental value & I don't want to hurt his feelings.

Watch the peacock. It's a testy leather, being lambskin. It cannot get wet, rain will stain the leather.

Nawth - I did read that about the leather. As soon as I came home I did a board search and saw some were having issues with water spots on the fawn leather. I assume peacock is the same way since they're both lamb leathers. Would a treatment help at all or are they both strictly dry weather bags? TIA :)

Strictly dry weather, even spots from washing your hands can stick around. Too much work for me, but ah well. It's still a nice bag and all but if I'd had known it was lambskin I would have passed on it. Live and learn

^^ The darker lambskin leathers are much easier to deal with.
