YES, I used to really want a forest nikki so that'd be cool. I think I'll just buy some green and black dye. I can do like the first coat with just the green and then mix the black into it to make it a really dark one. My sister really wants me to do it black but I think she has plans to steal it that way so we'll see... lol

I used both, I actually used a tiny makeup brush to get in the little crevices, but since the self shine doesn't actually penetrate the leather, any time I used it it would move around and open back up showing white all over between the pebbles.

I just wrote a superlong post over in the HH forum in a thread comparing HH to RM. Is it just me or are there a TON of "vs" threads comparing other brands to RM? Just off the top of my head I know there are ones for Treesje, HH, and Botkier. Just thought that was interesting.

Sunlit, just out of curiosity, what did you use to dye the first time, a sponge or a brush? If you used a sponge I wonder if a brush might be able to get the dye deeper in between the "pebbles" of the leather?

Hahah! Yessss. I hope it comes out okay, I'm so nervous this time around. I really just want to love it, I'm so bored with it right now.

And who called us cult members?! lol I swear I'm not drinking the kool-aid, RMs just really are that good!

^^ Haha, I agree. I've had higher end bags but never loved the leather and styles as much as I do with my RMs. The quality of leather we get for even the retail price just boggles my mind, especially when you compare it with bags that are 2-3x the cost. I love it!

Sunlit - thanks, good to know in case I work on a pebbled bag!

Baghag - not at all, it's actually a very respectful discussion they're having! I love the HH peeps, they're so...verbose. @ BLEEN.

YES! Definitely don't bother with the self shines alone on the pebbled leathers, just as your top coat. You really need a penetrating dye or every time you use it there will be more and more white peeking through. It does not want to stick to those tiny little crevices at all.

YAY have fun! I'm jealous! Storms are a-brewing here again. I'd love to go out on the bike but I just know the second I leave lightning will strike me down out of nowhere.

Oh yay I found a great deal on the dyes! I'm wondering if I should get the deglazer as well to prepare the leather in hopes that it applies more evenly?? It's recommended. I wish it had the ingredients listed though, I'd think the acetone is probably already doing this.

SLM, since tarrago has the black in penetrating dye, how about you die it black first, so it can get all penetrated, and then finish it off with a coat or 2 of green? that way if it starts to crackle, or start showing the creases or something, then it would give it a more "distressed" look.
