LOL I know! You should see it now! It's crazy! I took pics so once the thread goes up it will all be documented! I think I'd like a Navy better too (especially with the CC lining) but I'm scared it won't cover enough and I won't be able to match the penetrating dye to a self shine top coat, I don't want it to look streaky. I'm not going to be able to get every minuscule drop of red off so that's something to consider. I'll have to look into it, I'm still torn. I had to stop though the fumes were getting to me! Hopefully I can finish removing this dye tomorrow outside in the fresh air and place an order for some dye!

OMG indeed!!! That's quite a dramatic picture! But I'm sure once you finish it will look as fabulous as the first time. Can't wait to see the finished product!

It's too pebbly for this tarrago dye, white keeps showing through tiny crevices because it doesn't actually penetrate the leather so I'm going to use an actual penetrating dye. And since I have a wine bag now, I've decided to do a different color as well.
OMG!! I sooo wanted that bag... silly goose

What color are you dying it now?? Please post along the way pics for us

It was the same with my puppy.
LOL did you dye your puppy too?

I'm kind of really wanting it to be black though, I still can't decided between that and Chocolate or Navy. I'm scared the brown they have won't really be pretty though.
I wouldn't do navy. Your royal is a gorgeous bag, and everytime you would want something blue, i'm sure you'd reach for your royal, so it would sit unused in your armoir still! How about a deep green like envy

Thanks for the support knas, bh, and MAGJES!

desi, lmao sorrrry! You wouldn't have wanted it though trust me. The little white lines kept creeping through... it was getting annoying. I hear you on the Navy though, that is exactly what I was thinking this morning. I'd always reach for my royal for sure.

I LOVE your idea of a deep green a la 'envy'. The colors of penetrating dye are limited to black, brown, and navy from tarrago but I think there's another brand with a larger range. Again, I'm concerned with covering up any red left over though and matching it to a tarrago self shine color for the top coat. Blaaaah. Now I really want dark green! It would be oh so christmas-y with the candy cane lining!

Ohhh it says to dye white leather black to first dye it green... so maybe I can try that out and see how it is before deciding to go black or not! lol They don't have an envy like color though unless I do some mixing. http://www.fiebing.com/Using_Leather_Dye.aspx

^Oooh, yes, you need some green! Maybe even something super dark like Forest.

I just wrote a superlong post over in the HH forum in a thread comparing HH to RM. Is it just me or are there a TON of "vs" threads comparing other brands to RM? Just off the top of my head I know there are ones for Treesje, HH, and Botkier. Just thought that was interesting.

Sunlit, just out of curiosity, what did you use to dye the first time, a sponge or a brush? If you used a sponge I wonder if a brush might be able to get the dye deeper in between the "pebbles" of the leather?
