Thanks! It's just dye, yeah. They sell a leather preparer separately I believe, but all it is is basically acetone anyway.

HGG, I bought it from this seller. 45" strap is about the same length as the MAC chains. I got a 54", I think it was 1/2" thick.

The first coat of green, seeing it look like that I thought I'd be scared too but I knew black was coming next. Plus the dye was going on soooo nicely that I was really happy at that point 'cause I knew it was going to work. I didn't before.

I thought I'd also show another small dye project I took on the other day. I love my 3 zip MACs now but the chain straps are too short for me and I didn't want to buy a long chain 'cause frankly they can get heavy. So I purchased a long black leather strap on the bay and dyed it with the dark green and turquoise Tarrago dye to match Teal. I'm going to match the other side to DT and buy another strap to match one side with PH, leaving the other black for my BBW MAMM! Woot!

I just tried the Dark Green Self Shine over the black nikki on a small test spot! OMG I love it! I'll do it tomorrow and take pics ASAP! It turns out a realllllly blackened green but it's so perfect for what I envisioned. And I think even if some black shows through it will look nice because of how well it meshes with it. YAY!

You know it was totally my idea!!

I literally thought that black nikki was a REAL black nikki, as in you took someone else's black nikki picture and posted it here as an "inspiration"!! LOL. That being said, I think it speaks for itself that you did a GREAT re-dye job!! It looks like it was a black nikki all along!

Be sure to post pictures when you decide which top coat you chose!!

Thanks Lana! I went with the green because I had it already and I have a black bag. I'm glad I did because it's still really dark, a very deep blackened green.

I have touch ups I need to do in between small areas and the hardware needs to be cleaned but here's a pic. Stuffed and by the pool. My battery died and I'm losing light outside so there's just one but I'm beat!

Hope these helped if you're wanting to try out a dye project of your own, don't be scared!!
