Default Black vs Night?

Hi Ladies,

I was just wondering if anyone could help tell me the difference (if there is any) between the black and the new "night" color.

I know night will have all the new hardware, but other then that, is the leather/color basically the same?

Thanks in advance!

The RM black bags vary from season to season. She normally doesn't call them BLACK. She has names for them, like midnight, night, onyx.

I just got my night/gold bag, and its a nice very deep black, with a slight sheen to it. I love it! It seems the leather she uses on her black bags is always the softest. I have a black/red matinee, and this night bag, and the leather on both is delicious!

Thank you.

I saw a Nikki today at Plaza Too with the old hardware and it was very pretty. But, I know LB will be carrying the new "night".

I'm wondering if other then the hardware, if there are any other differences?

The black I saw today was more of a smooth matte finish. I wonder if the "night" has a different texture or more of a shine.

The night on the gold crackle MAB doesn't have a glazed appearance like the tangerine does. Its a smooth finish, and i guess the very slight sheen it has is from all the gold :)

i love it!

Just to clarify, based on a discussion with lovebags2, the black bag she saw was from the resort collection (with the pyramid hardware). I mention it in case anyone knows if/how that black differs from those from other seasons.

I'm so happy to hear that you love it!

I went to Plaza Too and I thought they called the Nikki, "black". If you go on their website, that's what the call it there too. I'll look into this more tomorrow.

Have a great night and thanks again for your help!

Default Night vs. Midnight - Is there a difference?

So after a week of stalking the blog here and searching endlessly, I'm settling for a black Nikki since the Yellow and White one have been too elusive for me to get my hand on.

I noticed these two bags on FLL.

Any you ladies seen the difference between Night and Midnight in terms of color?
Is one leather softer, more buttery than the other?
Would you buy one over the other?

I'm excited to be getting my first Nikki (and first RM for that matter)! WooHoo!!

Night and Midnight are both black, just from different seasons. There will be a difference in leather, but I haven't felt Midnight IRL so I can't comment on which would be better.

The midnight is not available and has not been for a while..I wonder why they don't take it off of there..it has the old hardware and the Night has the new hardware..I don't know if they are making anymore bags with the old hardware..I wish they would.

I was just about to say be careful on Funkylala!! They keep bags up on their site that have been LONG sold out!! It's really frustrating and I too wonder why they don't manage their site better than they do. I have my eye on a MAM in Dark Gray that I stalked for two weeks and finally save up for and when I ordered it they charged my card and everything.. then told me it was out of stock. A tpfer then told me that that bag had been oput of stock for a month and a half!

Ok- so back to the actual question. In my opinion the night leather is better. I think it has more character. Does anyone out there have both colors??

Yes. I have had both. The difference in my opinion is: Midnight leather is soft but thicker and less smooshy (though it is still very very smooshy!) It is shinier too. It is a little bit slicker. It's a nice smooshy pretty leather BUT Night is even softer.

Night is softer and more touchable and more collapsable. It is SOOOO soft to the touch. The downside is that it doesn't hold it's shape as well and it is a little TINY bit "wrinkly." But it is SO soft and touchable and great. I was petting this bag for awhile. LOL. It also has a little bit of sparkle to the color.

I like both leathers but I prefer the Night. I think it is fabulous. Hope this helps! :)

To ask a related question-- I've a black basketweave bag and would still like to get the strap despite all the not-so-great reviews. Night seems to be the best option for the black bag. Would it seem pretty obvious that they were different leathers if I put the strap on? The basketweave bag black is matte and really soft. TIA!

I'm bumping this thread because I have the same question. I'm seriously considering the black basketweave MAB at funkylala and am wondering what strap would work best with it, since there doesn't seem to be an option for black. The night bags I have seen IRL are a soft, almost faded black.

There is also an onyx strap. Can anyone comment on night vs. onyx straps and which would work better with the black basketweave?

I don't know exactly how obvious it would be to have the two leathers but I know they are different, it depends on how particular you are.. For me it would bother me a bit. Also- do you have the BW with the new hardware or old hardware? If you have the old hardware it not look good with the night strap as I am assuming the Night strap has new hardware since it's a new color..?

I'm not too sure about this. Maybe someone who has both leathers can put them together and see if they look weird together..
