Default OCD or not?
Hi everyone,

One of the things I love about the purse forum is that I have finally found a group of like minded ladies who adore their bags. This is one of the few places I have found where it is acceptable to express your love for an item by buying the same thing over and over in a rainbow of beautiful colors and nobody questions your sanity. My husband gave me "the talk," yesterday about my obsession (when he found out that I had 5 new bags on the way) and had a hard time understanding why I needed to buy the same MAM in numerous colors. Fortunately for me, he is very indulgent and let it go after I clarified my love for these bags. I am curious...how do your spouses/significant others feel about the repetitive buying?

I'm the only one with a job, so he can't say boo. Even when he worked, he knows better than to say anything. Besides, he has his own $$ hobbies.

DH is spectacular in that respect . As long as I have bags going out (selling), then I can continue to have bags coming in. This idea came about after he had his "intervention" with me last year when I was in a complete & utter Coach craze...

Girl say it again. My situation is the same. And as long as the bills are paid and we aren't starving, etc he really has no room....I work very hard for my money.

However, I have agree to put the brakes on since I am getting married next year. My wedding is definitely more important than a new bag. But after the wedding...I'll have my list ready.

Hahaha, knasarae! I agree.

And, c'mon, men have their own expensive habits, yet they try to downplay our incredible taste in Italian leather. My boyfriend has a thing for FLEECE.

FLEECE?! Seriously? He owns every Patagonia 1/4 zip ever made, and he thinks MY fetish is weird. Guffaw.

My BF doesn't understand why I have to own more than 2 or 3 purses. But he has no control or say over what I buy because he doesn't pay for them, so I just keep truckin'..

My husband knows I LOVE purses but I certainly don't let him see my purse closet!! He thinks they go in and out at a consistent pace but that's not really the case .

He recently wanted to know how many "pocketbooks" I had.... (I think I just gave away his age....!)

He will be the first to confess that he actually has an obsession with Oakley sunglasses.... They do look good on him though .

Ummm...yea...my DH is a silly, silly man. He thinks I should limit myself to 20 bags, and 20 pairs of shoes...forever...SO not happening!

But we both have good jobs, and we both have our own obsession...his is with cameras, computers, and electronics...but see he will tell me the hi def TV surround sound speakers are for "US" not him...

So I just tell him he can carry one of my bags anytime he wants to...so they are for "US" too!

And Magjes...I completely agree...he has to stay out of my closet and bags...no taking inventory! LOL!

LOL, Aww! How cute! Too bad he hasn't seen your pocketbook collection! I have caught my boyfriend petting one of my RMs once, so I guess he somewhat appreciates the leather

I'm laughing hysterically as I type.. Too freakin funny
Gawd..I wish my fiancee had some sort of obsession..but he doesn't which makes my love for pocketbooks..(I love it..) a bit interesting(not bad) around here.
I have to wean him slowly...
MAGJES..he's never been in your purse closet???

My husband and I are lucky enough to have good jobs with good salaries, so I don't necessarily feel bad about the money issue as (like some of you have stated) I am not taking away food or shelter to fund my obsession. My sweet boy kind of new what he was getting into (we have been married over 20 years now!) as, at the time, I had (and still have) quite a collection of vintage Barbie pieces (Magjes... I may have just inadertently given my age away )...but I seem to have gotten worse with age. He too has many "toys" and is now wanting to learn how to play the bass guitar (he is a drummer and has two sets of those) so now we are dealing with that issue as well. We are both pretty bad, but I feel mine is a little worse as I have hidden many of my purchases from him or, when asked whether or not something is new, will innocently say "don't you remember me showing this to you when I got it last year?" Sometimes I feel there should be a 12-step program for RM, except I really don't want to be cured. I did get a reality check though on Wednesday when I tried to purchase something using Paypal, my bank denied it and when I called to inquire, they were questioning the "rash" of purchases on our CC and just wanted to make sure it hadn't been stolen No, it's just my husband and I trying to keep the economy going. I have really enjoyed reading your perspectives...thanks so much for sharing
