Default MAM in different sizes??
I just purchased my first MAM. I had a hard time deciding if a MAB or a MAM would be the right bag for me. I measured bags I owned to try and figure out what size I wanted. So I got my first MAM the other day and it's for sure the right size for me, anything larger would be a bit much for me. However I did notice when picking out my bag different listings on Ebay have different measurements for a MAM (some differing even by 2 inches). now I know there is the MAMM - I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about just the regular MAM. Do they run in different sizes? I just dont want any surprises when considering to purchasing another one, I would want this exact size I have now.

Also - My bag has the "mixed HW" and I really like the old HW the best - is it possible to find a brand new bag with old HW?

I think the measurements could easily vary a couple inches depending on exactly where you measure from. As far as I know there isn't a noticeable difference in MAM sizes, though sometimes it can be tricky to tell from photos. Some very old RMs were a different size, but it's unlikely you're coming across those on the bay. You could always ask a seller to take a photo with a ruler if that would ease your worries.

It is possible to find brand new bags with old HW. There are some people who have bags they've never used (or have only used a couple times) that have old HW. The only way to get current leathers with old HW, however, is to do a special order.

I'm with ya on the old hw though! It's perfect! :)

How do you go about doing a special order?

What is different about the leather between the old bags and new bags?

I purchased a almond mam and the leather on it is unreal. No joke, you can smell it when you walk in the room.

You can arrange special orders in the "shopping" subforum of this subforum. You need 8 other people to go in on a bag of pretty much any specs (provided RM has them available).

Leathers change by season. Each leather is (mostly) unique. So if you really wanted, say, purple haze with old hw, that simply wasn't produced. Purple haze is a current leather and comes with the mixed hardware. It'd be easier to pick out an older leather that was produced with the old hardware. There are plenty out there on ebay, bonanzle, and ecrater in like new or brand new condition!

No, it's either MAMM, MAM, or MAB. If you search measurements you should find them here. Or look at a retailers site.
