Laptop & your MAB?

I'm looking for a bag that will fit my laptop (about 12.5 x 9.5 x 1.5 are the dimensions; it weighs around 4 lbs) and a book... According to Luna Boston's site, the MABs are 14 x 10 x 9. Just wanted to make sure that was correct, and ask if any of you have ever used your MAB to carry around your laptop?

I have a 15" Mac Laptop, and if I unclip the hooks on the side it will fit in my MAB.

^Ditto. It just barely fits my 15.4" Macbook Pro, and only if I don't have a lot of other stuff in it, and even then the laptop is sitting diagonally in the bag.

Hmm, ok... so sounds like a laptop plus a book probably wouldn't fit? Maybe I'm crazy and should just stick with my laptop backpack? But it's so... ugly. It makes me a little everytime I see it! haha...

Just a little curious as to why you'd want to put your laptop in a MAB? Convenience I'm sure. But, as noted above it's barely a fit and then your MAB would take on an odd funky shape-- at least while it's in there. Not to mention the fact that it's a purse and not a computer bag and wont at all protect your laptop from unexpected bangs and bumps.

Of course I know there are smaller computers out there than the Macbook Pro but I still wouldn't risk it. Thus I carry around my purse and a separate computer bag. I too have a 15" Macbook Pro and hate my computer bag (it looks like something a student would carry and I finished grad school in 2001) but don't feel real compelled to run out a buy a new cute one. It's just not that important to me.

I'd still carry around a separate (much smaller) purse (like I do now). And also, I'd put the laptop in a protective sleeve. I just hate all the bags that were designed especially for laptops. Well, there are some cute ones JUST for laptops, but I'd like one that can hold both laptop and books. Law school is already so depressing, it'd be wonderful if before every class, opening my bag to get out my laptop, I could be cheered up by it's color, lovely design, etc.

I haven't bought a RM bag before, and I thought this would be a great justification...

For me, it's convenience of just carrying ONE bag instead of two (and laptop is in a sleeve). Especially when traveling on a plane, so I can just take a roller and one carry-on bag.

Rm is coming out with a laptop bag soon. I'd wait for that.

i know on the RM site it said that a nikki can fit a 12" laptop, so i'm sure that the Market tote could probably fit a laptop, and a few other things.

I agree with Desi to either wait or try another RM bag. Although a computer may fit in the MAB it might look odd unless it's a really small computer.

The Nikki has really supple leather and is heavy due to the hard, I'm not sure that I'd use it primarily as a laptop bag. I'd be too afraid the strap would eventually break from the weight.

Mine is a 13.3 inch Vaio... kind of an inbetween size. Ok, I guess I'll keep shopping around... Thanks everyone.

^^ ITA, i would use the market tote and not the MAM/MAB, even if the laptop does fit in there. I think it would look funny, as it's not really made for a laptop.
