I just received a black MAM with brushed gold hardware and the blue zipper track from Nordstrom. I wanted this combo so badly, but I'm upset because although the bag "looks" gorgeous, it doesn't feel gorgeous. It has that rubbery leather!!! I have felt it before on some other bags at the store and immediately put them down, but according to the photos, it looked like this bag had the soft buttery leather. Unfortunately no, I was wrong.

I don't understand why this type of leather would even be used. it sticks to my clothing and hair, ick! Do you girls know what I'm referring to? It almost has a polyurethane feel to it.

Would it ever get better with use? I pre-sold one with the shiny gold hardware from Bloomies that I plan to pick up tomorrow, and that one has really nice feeling leather, but I prefer the brushed gold hardware. Too bad

Oh and I forgot to mention, the smell from the leather is really strong like a major chemical smell.

I have the same bag and the leather isn't rubbery at all and she smells fine, not chemically. Maybe its due to the packaging that Nordstroms ships in.... thats really my only guess. Maybe you could condition and carry her for a while, that may help.....

It was in the official Rebecca Minkoff plastic, just as Endless.com ships it in etc. No it really is that leather because I have lots of her bags and none are like that.

Did you get that exact one off the Nordstrom site recently from this season? It has the silky polkadot lining.

These reviews are on the black Mini MAC on Nordstrom, so I guess I am not the only one who thinks this new leather sucks. "Sticky" is definitely another way to describe which is why it sticks to my clothing and hair.

I also returned this bag for the same reason as the Cafelatte reviewer. The black leather felt very "sticky". It seems like the ones with the animal print lining have a better quality leather; and the ones with the black/blue polka dotted lining are the ones with the "sticky-rubbery" leather. I do love the size and style of the bag in general.

The description says there are are interior pockets. There are none! The previous version of this bag had pockets--I have no idea why the took them away. Also the leather quality seems different then before---rubbery and does not look or feel high quality. I'm returning this one ASAP!

I bought mine from www.stylefly.ca but I'm pretty sure it is the same bag, black with blue zip track, polka dot lining, gold hardware, I bought it a few weeks ago.

I know exactly what you are referring to!! I felt a black w/silver HW MAC with "rubbery leather". It was awful!! I own a black MAC w/gold HW that has amazing leather, it's like butter. Unless they make some changes, I will no longer be buying. I love soft, buttery leather!

I know exactly what you are talking about too! I noticed this when checking out the MABs that my local Nordies had out on display. The smell was the same strong chemical-like odor that my black woven ben's tote had. The black woven leather had such a strong smell I considered returning it, but after use it has aired out. I still detect a faint odor at times but I have sensitive sense of smell. The leather on my bag is not sticky though, and that sounds like a true nightmare. You could always try ordering off a different site, maybe Nordies got a crappy batch of bags from RM?

The leather is different than before. I too saw the bags at Nordies you are talking about. The leather is thick, but flat and lacking shine. Unlike the new bright colors which are thin and matte, the new black did feel plasticy.

I tried and tried to convince myself last night that the leather was fine but nope, I just couldn't. It's really terrible. It feels so sticky, that it almost makes the bag feel dirty if you know what I mean. I'm returning it to Nordstrom later. I don't get it for the life of me why Rebecca would ever allow this type of leather to be used...ever!!!

As I mentioned before, I did pre-sale a different version from Bloomies for their sale today so I'm gonna go pick it up and see. It does have shiny gold hardware though but at least the leather was buttery and soft.

I noticed this on a black cupid with silver hardware that I was checking out at Nordstrom a few weeks ago. It was really weird and unlike any of the many RMs I currently own.

Well good news, the MAM I picked up today at Bloomingdales has AMAZING leather. It's already so smooshy! I'll post photos tomorrow. Plus I got $100 off for the sale, and another 10% because it was a display and my SA knows I always want one from the back but they had none left. I would have preferred a "fresh" one but it wasn't a return so I figured for that extra 10% off it was worth it. The leather is buttery and thick!

The sticky rubbery one was returned to Nordstrom a couple hours ago

My dilemma exactly! The black cupid that I received a few days ago has this leather. ITA It is really horrible....I've noticed that the leather has been literally "collecting dust" from the air....grrrrr.... I've tried to rationalize the leather quality but could not do so too, I am returning it.

BTW I am glad to hear that you could find the one with good leather! Congrats!

So relieved to find this thread! I came across one of these (sticky MAM) on eBay. Fortunately it was from a seller who has a return policy if not completely satisfied, so back it went. It cost me for shipping both ways, but cheaper than keeping a bag I just couldn't love!

Awww so sorry to hear that you had received one of them!
Yeah mine too came from a eBay seller who accepts return (it was a black Cupid x silver hardware x polka dot lining) so I sent it back and shouldered both ways shopping. So agree with you - my $30 were well spent if it was for getting rid of that leather from my sight. It was traumatic....
