Got my Nikki today...

And I'm a bit disappointed

.THe leather is not what I was expecting at all.It's dry and veiny.The bag is not soft and smooshy like I was expecting.My question now is: Do I send her back? Or condition the leather and hope that this will soften her up?
Could it just be the leather type?It's black with the old hardware in gold with stud details.
I'll post pics soon.

Rm's leathers do soften with use. I'd give it a few days before sending it back.

What, really!? Most of RM's leathers are like @$$! Super soft, squishy, and smooshy. What color was this bag? Midnight?

The SA called it black but maybe it's the midnight.I'll post pictures in a bit then you can probably tell me...

This sounds like a Nikki from the Resort if it had studs..

I tried conditioning her...I only have the leather moisturizer from Coach...the leather feels a little less dry but still not soft.I have put my stuff in her and I carry everything but the kitchen sink and she's not even full or heavy!

That looks the Resort Nikki. How sad that you're not loving the bag. Hopefully it will soften up for you.

This is the resort Nikki! You're very lucky to have scored this! i love the look of the yellow/black leather.

I remember someone earlier had posted their bag, and thought it was a defect, but RM Maven confirmed indeed that the resort black was intentionally meant to have yellow undertones.

If you don't like it, i'd return it and get an all Black Nikki like the Night or the midnight.

Someone else had a problem with this leather as well, I think it was a MAM or MAB.. I think the problem is that you need to go into a purchase knowing about this leather before hand otherwise it comes as a big shock when you are expecting smooshy soft leather, kwim??

It looks gorgeous though!! If you don't want to keep it Im sure you could EASILY sell it the bay and get something you like better! Most RM leather is soft, buttery and to die for..!

Thanks ladies...I feel silly for posting w/out researching on my own first.I just read up on the RM '07 resort line and I see that the leathers were distressed to give a vintage look.I bought it sight unseen from a retailer in NYC who did a charge ship for me.I will give it a few days to see if I start feeling the love otherwise I'll 'bay her.I'm looking fwd to tomorrow night though...nuf said.

Although this isnt a nikki question, it is about the RM leather though. I recently got the matinee in violet and love it but find sometimes I get these weird squeaky sounds like a door that needs oiling. I tried to figure out where it was comming from and seems to be from the handles. Anyone know what this is and how I can fix it?

Ohh...sorry. I really do not like it! Sorry! the style of course is TDF...but not to happy with the look of the leather even though it was intentional!

BagSlave~ Yes! My brand new black/blue matinee makes that exact noise from the handles. At first I was trying to figure it out, and then I realized what it was. I am hoping that it will stop after it wears in.

I have heard a lot about this "noise" but haven't experienced it yet.. Very strange! It must only happen with certain leathers.
