Default Cleaning your RM Bag - BEFORE & AFTER Pictures

Hi Minkettes,

I am bored and thought of making this thread as a reference for us when cleaning and treating our new or pre-owned REBECCA MINKOFF bags. Of course, we love our expensive bags so much that we have to take care of every single part of the leather or the hardware. I know a lot of you have tried different cleaners, conditioners and repellents. Most of them were very effective but in few cases, it is not and made the bag's condition worse. There are different types of leather used by RM to produce their bags and applying ONE type of cleaner, conditioner or repellent to all your RM bags of different leather types although same direction, application, and same amount of the cleaner still, it doesn't give the same effects to all your bags.

There has already been a thread dedicated to cleaning and it has helped a lot although there have been some complaints with how their bags became darker in color, has water-like spots, etc. Words cannot tantamount to pictures. Pictures are worth a thousand words.

Therefore, we should have reference pictures of the bags BEFORE and AFTER cleaning them. As much as possible, take pictures of them individually and much information about the bag such as the following:
1. Rebecca Minkoff bag model/style.
2.
Specific color of the bag.
3. Season it was bought and produced.
4. Type of leather
5. What product was used in cleaning, conditioning or repelling?
6. Schedule of Maintenance - How often do you clean your bags?
7. Any additional information you want to add would help.
I hope a lot of RM bag owners/collectors will definitely benefit on this because many of us has listened to experts on cleaning BUT bags ended up in trash or 70% off fleaBay because of the products that were referred to them were ineffective and that it destroyed the lovely bag.

To see is to believe. If you post your reference pictures and someone has the same bags and need help in maintaining, they will be assured that the bags won't end up ugly because they have seen you use the product and your bags became even more lovely. You may also post pictures of BEFORE and AFTER pictures of bags that ended up ugly when you used a certain product. It's always nice to help another TPfer/RM lover in help, isn't it?

*This may also help other designer bag owners in other sub-forums. They'll visit the RM sub-forum and get a glimpse of the beautiful bags and you'll never know, we might have even recruited tPfers from another sub-forums to join the RM craze. LOL*

P.S. Mods, please delete this thread if it is a duplicate of another similar thread or just plain unnecessary. Thank you!

5. lmb leather pro-treatment and silk moisturizer
6. Schedule of Maintenance - Should be every month but I've only done the routine twice
7. Worked great on my bag and made it completely water resistant and also very soft and smooshy. Took her out in the rain and not a single mark remained after drying. I did not treat the silver spot. first three pics are after treatment and the last two are before.

First off.. I don't have before and after pictures because my bags look exactly the same after I treated them. I will list the bags I have owned and treated with apple guard conditioner and /or apple guard water repellent with success. Meaning they look exactly the same before & after treatment!

1) Glazed Espresso MAM (used the AG conditioner AND water repellent)

2) Hazelnut MAM (used AG conditioner)

3) Wine MAM & Nikki (used AG Conditioner AND water repellent)

4) Navy Luxe Nikki (used AG conditioner)

5) Night Matinee (used AG conditioner)

6) Dark Grey MAM (used AG conditioner AND water repellent)

7) Noir Henri (used AG conditioner)

8) Dark Brown Henri & Eros (used AG conditioner)

** Please note that I just haven't gotten around to using the water repellent on all my bags.. I plan to spray all of them EXCEPT the Sterling Steady.. not sure about that one yet.

I have also use BRASSO with much success! And just bought Lovin' My Bags
'for handles only' for my wine, navy luxe & hazelnut bag's handles. There was no darkening with use.
