Default Re: Cleaning your Rebecca Minkoff bag - PLEASE READ
So I am hoping the Apple will work for me. I have the Spring 08' Ruby matinee that is starting to spot and bleed onto my light clothing. I have been searching everywhere in my area for someone who can weather-proof my bag however I haven't found anyone who can help. I am almost afraid to use the apple just because I am afraid it will remove the red. Has anyone used this on one of the brighter colored matinee bags? If so, did it hold up in the rain?

when you guys spray your bag with the Rain and Stain Repellent, do you cover the hardware with anything, like tape? is it okay to spray the hw? and really specific-- do you bring your bag outside of your home to spray or do you spray in your house?

sorry for the super specific questions! thanks!

I don't cover the hardware nor do I wipe it down. I only have new hardware and haven't noticed any adverse effects.

It is probably best to spray outside or in a well ventilated room or leave the room after spraying. You don't want to breathe the fumes.

LOL... good point on the ventilation thing... I sprayed my bags in my apartment one night... i was smelling the fumes all night.. needless to say i was a little light-headed.

Now I take it to the stairwell outside.

I prefer to spray my bags because I carry them rain or shine and I walk/take the subway everywhere. I just don't like to worry about them.

BUT I know that Desi and probably others too don't spray their bags at all.

So it depends on how you use the MAM. If you still want to carry it in the rain, then I would recommend spraying it. And I mean walking in the rain, not running to the car in the rain.
