Default Scratch on DT 3-zip MAC
Hi,

I bought a DT 3-zip MAC recently and accidentally scratched it. It wasn't there when the bag came and I don't remember scratching it but there's a thin, long scratch there right in the middle of the bag.

I can live with it but still want to fix it. I tried to buff it out with leather conditioner with limited success. However, I used the Nine west leather conditioner that I normally use on my shoes and wondered if other brands of leather conditioner would make a difference? I searched the forum and saw people recommending Apple conditioner, but this product is not available to me in Australia. What else can I do to fix this flaw? I don't think it's a deep scratch and feel it can be salvaged.

I also saw on ebay there was a mint MAMM bag for sale at a decent price, but the bag has multiple scratch marks. I was thinking if there was a way I could get rid of them, then I could bid on the bag.

Please help!

^ Some scratches can be buffed out and some cannot. I like to use apple care leather conditioner, this brand seems to work wonders but there are still some scratches that will not come out.

If the scratch is deep enough there may not be a way to get it out.. you can only lessen it.

HTH! Good luck

I have never used leather conditioner...what does it 'do' as far as getting scratches out? I just noticed three small scratches on my chocolate BW MAB this morning and am really wanting remove them somehow..

It conditions & smoothen the area of scratch so it lessens the scratch somehow. It however works on light scratches like LR mentioned.

Deep Turquoise is a bit different than the other leathers when scratched. It has a lighter color right under the outer layer, so if you buff the scratch too much, it will lose the dyed top part. This leather is somewhat delicate, so treat it with caution.

On most other leathers the scratches can be rubbed out/conditioned off.

AG conditioner doesn't turn the leather dark, does it? Somewhat afraid of trying it...

Adding my story to the already numerous stories about how awesome Apple Garde is: yesterday I was eating some froyo with lots of drizzled honey on top and walking with my (NEW!) Teal MAM. Of course, a bit of the honey-covered froyo flicks out of my cup and onto my bag. Even though I didn't notice for like 5 minutes, the honey wiped right off my MAM! obviously i was kind of freaking out when i did notice, and the spot was darkened right after wards....but it looked as good as new about 30 minutes later!

Just to be safe though, I sprayed some more AG on the spot :)

I agree about Teal leather . When I first purchased my Teal MAC when it first came out and I lightly sprayed it with Wilson's leather protectant. On Teal the leather is very delicate and fine so be careful if you treat it to use product sparingly and in a fine mist so to not over saturate the leather. Good luck!

I just used my navy croc mac for the first time yesterday and while the body of the bag is super soft and yummy, the long tassels are a little dry and scratchy (on mine at least). I was wondering if any other girls w/ croc tassels have noticed this. I've never used a conditioner on a bag (only rain protectant) but noticed that Apple Guard seems to be the favorite here. Do you think I should condition just the tassels? Is it ok to do when the underside of the tassel is unfinished/suede?
Thanks so much!

All the instructions for apple garde say that it's fine for suede, but i'd test it to make sure.

Also, I just got a ton of apple garde from shoestuff.com --you can only buy them 3 at a time, but it's less expensive then leatherstuff is sellign them. And since i've been waterproofing all my boots AND my bags, I really needed it!

SGW i think the croc leathers are sturdy enough to handle light rain without staining/spotting.

I am new to RM, so sorry if this question has been asked. I want to know if I should treat my FIG Darling? It has a glaze so I didn't know if a protectant spray would alter it.
