Default Peacock: problems with water stains
Just last month I got my first RM, a mini Nikki in peacock. When wearing it while washing my hands, and dashing just a few feet thru the lightest of rain, I found it absorbs drops of water instantly and they dry to unattractive dark greyish spots on the beautiful peacock leather!

I was going to ask if anyone else had this problem, with peacock, then I read the posts below, this isn't looking good....

I know that I have to now go and treat the whole bag with leather waterproofers and protectors, etc. I didn't want to do this when the bag was brand new because the leather was so soft and glazed and gorgeous, I just wanted it to stay like that and not have it changed by applying any products... But I don't have any choice now, the spots are very prominent and look bad, not like part of the normal variations at all.

So yes, this is a lesson. But I'm not happy that this RM leather is so high maintenance and so intolerant. I don't think I was being careless with the bag; an occasional tiny drop of water is just part of normal use. I've got blue and green Pradas and Ferragamos also with really soft leather and on them, drops of water when quickly wiped off leave no trace at all.

Have any of you with a peacock bag treated it with waterproofer, and did it change the color or glaze when you did it? Thanks for any advice...

Hi MissFluffyCat!! Here is what I did to my Peacock MAM and it looks almost 100% better!! I wiped the water marks with Apple Guard Cleaner, then I conditioned the whole bag with Apple Guard Conditioner. I waited 24 hrs and then I sprayed the whole bag today twice with Apple Guard Spray. The color and the glaze seems to be unaffected but the bag does feel softer and smooshier. So in the end, I think it all worked out really well. Let us know how it goes!

Hi hgbags, I'm so glad that your MAM has recovered!

It's good to hear of a solution to this. In Australia no-one stocks the Apple products so I'll have to order some from the USA... meanwhile I'll be careful to keep my nikki out of the rain.

A question about the conditioner: When you put conditioner on your bags, do you put it everywhere, i.e. over all the seams and stitches as well? Or do you just try and keep it on the leather? I know the spray will cover everything anyway... do the stitches end up the same color when it's all finished?

Thanks again for the info, Peacock really rocks!

I put it everywhere...it's really hard to get good coverage if you try to avoid them. When it dries, you can't really tell.

Hey Desi I have to say, I still love my Bals, but I'm crazy over RM right now! It's a great bag and they don't cost a fortune!! I love her leathers and colors, also quality seems pretty good. I just discovered her last week and I already have the following collection...I went a little crazy in a week's time - I guess I have to chalk it up to being 9 months pregnant and going through shopping withdrawl from clothes and shoes!! I still can't quite decide which style is for me, but I'm liking the MAM and the MAC so far. I'm a little disappointed though that the lambskin leather is so high maintenance. I'm worried i'm going to have the same problem now with the Sunshine MAM. I'm going to spray her first though and hopefully it will work out better.

Peacock MAM
Sunshine MAM
Blue w/ orange Trim MAM - not sure of the official color
Black Cat MAC
Cobalt MAC
Rose Mini Nikki
Scarlet Nikki

I'll have to post my collection with modelling shots after I have the baby

Be careful using apple on the lighter lambskin bags. One of them started to get tiny black dots in the pores after I used apple! Kind of weird...they come off too, so it must be a chemical reaction.

Which product? The conditioner or the spray?

Glazed leather question again!

I've tested Pro-Treatment from LMB on bottom of my Noir MAM, and it lost its glaze and shine totally. I tried moisturizer and shine enhance, but it doesn't help. No shine. Leather looks tired and boring. Glad it only bottom.
I wonder if glaze is still there, and just needs some treatment with shine restore cream or something, or it gone for good?

I'm glad it's a black bag, but it still need to be waterproofed, as summer is over here, and it raining now without a stop.

This happened to me when I first treated my Noir Matinee. I did find a leather shine product that helped me restored its shine though. I think I will not treat my Noir leather ever again!

Default Caring for Peacock and Teal
Peacock is just so unstable! I can't get the Apple products here, so I tried a leather conditioning cream made in Germany on the dark rain spots on my peacock bag, just to even them out before waterproofing it.

I've used the same cream on many different blue and green Prada & Ferragamo bags and it's really good. But on Peacock, all this dark green dye comes off onto the cleaning cloth! This has never happened on anything else, usually no color comes off at all.

I have to spray waterproofer on this bag - it already has rain spots on it - but am really dreading it.

To those of you who have Teal bags, do you think that Teal is also unstable like this?
