^ Haha, yes! I was VERY bored. I think we should take to conditioning every once in a while at least! Pearly definitely deserves some pro treatment if it will make her better for the wear and protected for the future! I know how much you love her!

Hello,
I've got a brand new RM bag and I'm not sure if I should put protection spray on it before using it. Does it help to prevent stains? I read that some people prefer to leave in natural. What are the advantages??? That's my first RM bag so I need a little help

Could anyone from Europe recommend products for leather care? I can't get Apple and LMB products here and the Apple shipping costs are tremendous)

Thank you
Charlotte

Alternate between swiping with the hairspray infused Qtips and and wiping clean with a soft cloth that has been dipped in water and wrung out. Let dry completely. At this point you can go over the area with your Magic Eraser if you would like. The stain should either be gone entirely or very faint but in any event, it's appearance ought to have improved drastically.

Note: Do not ever "scrub" the leather or be harsh with it. This kind of repair requires patience and a gently, steady hand. It can be done though; just take your time!
Ok I did search and come up with this...but here's the deal, I bought the ONLY MAM in dove gray/neon at my Nordies today and just took it out again to look it over and noticed a pretty big (like 1 inch) pen mark on the bottom of the bag - WTF! The SA was rushing me and my 2 kids were acting nuts so I obv didn't examine it like I should have. It was $305 which seemed like a great price but maybe I should just return it. What do you all think? Should I try to get it out? I do love the bag (my 2nd RM) but it seems silly to pay $300 for a bag with a pen mark already on it...sigh....

OMG - If this was in Durham, NC then I just returned that bag!!!

Small World - I ordered it online and never even took off the plastic. Man the store had to have marked this bag with a pen because it was perfect when I returned it back on Monday. It's a beautiful bag but I couldn't make the color work for me.

(The sales lady did kind of dump it in the corner when she gave me the return receipt. I remember gasping at this - Poor RM. )

^^ OK alls well that ends well....I feel bad for complaining about the SA (who knows, the ink mark was surely already there...it was on the sale table all among a bunch of bags so anything could have happened...sigh...just wish I had noticed it before I bought it) because I went back today and she was really nice and helpful and called around to a bunch of stores and found another one for me **hurray** so hopefully I'll get it soon! (Sorry for posting this in the care thread)....To keep it sort of on topic she did try getting it out for a while using a pencil eraser and actually it did fade a good bit so if I had kept it I would have definitely gotten a magic rub eraser. I was actually surprised it worked as well as it did.

I'll be moving to a really humid and hot place (like 85 degree weather and 90% humidity, if not more), and my mom thinks that my leather bags will grow mold in that weather? I'm wondering is this true and if so, how do you guys prevent it? The last thing I want is mold growing on my Lavender Mini Devote, or my incoming MAM!

musicalhouses, I live in a hot and humid place (85% of the time it's extremely so -- both conditions haha), and I just place a couple of those dehumidifier boxes ? you can buy at the hardware store in the part of the closet where my RMs are stored in their dustbags. The box is plastic and usually sealed, shake it and it should sound like there are small beads bouncing around. Once you open it these "beads" absorb the moisture and eventually they'll all turn to liquid. When that happens I just replace the box with a new batch. Hope that helps!

It looks something like this:

FYI: I emailed Codi asking how to care for my new Lapis MAB and she replied -

We recommend taking it to a leather care expert and ask them what they recommend. There is also a site called Lovin My Bags that may have recommendations on how to best protect the leather. :)

Best,
Codi

^ That's strange. I'd prefer to get that info right from RM, as I imagine different bags and leathers need different care/protection, or none.

Yes, I was disappointed with the response and expected them to be more specific since I did include what type of leather I was concerned about. I supposed I should start re-reading the entire thread then...

I grew up and lived in Florida for 20+ years and never had this problem. If you don't have an AC vent in your closet, you will need a moisture-absorber and to leave the door open, but otherwise you will be fine.
