HI, when I got this bag it was pretty well used. It had a lot of water spots and some stains on it. I used LMB leather cleaner plus, then pro-treatment. I then sprayed it with Wilson's. I also used LMB "for handles only". the transformation was amazing! I do have the apple cleaner but chose to use the LMB. It did darken the leather just a bit but as you can see from the pic I just took, it's still a beauty. This leather is not going to stay looking new once you start using it, but it does clean up nicely and what I love about this leather is that it gets better with use. It will get some scratches but they do come out or at least fade when you clean it. This is my favorite RM and I think it will still look awesome years from now. Good luck!

my bag is brand new, so I don't think there is any need to clean/condition, I don't have the LMB for handles only, do you think the applegard spray will do it?

btw, do u still have this purse?

personally I would use the LMB "pro-treatment" first and then the spray. The pro treatment is a protectant as well. But if you don't want to buy that, then I would definitely spray it. It will look darker at first but then it lightens up.

and yes, I do still have the bag, I just took that pic today and it has had lots of use. I don't plan on ever getting rid of this one!

LMB Pro-Treatment is god sent. I treat my chocolate nikki with it and was so happy I did. This past weekend I got insect repellant all over one side which left several oily patches which I never thought would fade. Miraculously it faded in less than an hour; however under the shoulder strap which was not treated extensively has darkened considerably. A lesson to be learned there.......

does anyone know if the apple leather care conditioner repells stains at all. I know there is a spray specifically for repelling stains, but am a little hesitant to use it, as I don't want to alter the color of my bags!!!

I used the Apple Stain & Rain repellant on a small area on the bottom of my chocolate nikki and it darkened it. However, I used it on my MJ Nude Roxanne which has a shiny/glazed surface; it took an hour or more to dry and it didn't change the color.

I just re-read this whole thread! Go me! Glad it's over in the main subforum now!

I saw it answered a couple times but I'm wondering for anyone who protects their bag, how often do you do it?

I use Wilson's Leather Spray but just once when they're brand new. I'm wondering if it wears off eventually? Should I be doing it once every few months or something? It just rains so often here that I'm bound to get caught in something eventually and it terrifies me with my RMs. I never cared as much with my other higher end leather bags for some reason.

^I re-spray mine after it gets wet. I figure the repellent gets wiped off when I wipe off water. I also respray after conditioning, which I try to do every month or so.

Thanks mock! Should I get into conditioning? I don't really think about it 'cause all my leathers are so smooshy and soft but in the long run it might be better that I do to extend their life and ensure they STAY that way, correct? What do you happen to use?

I like to condition because it helps to buff out scratches and prevent new ones! Also some of my bags have "dry" leather and conditioning seems to really revive their color and shine. I use Apple conditioner on most and LMB moisturizer on the more delicate ones.

Yay, awesome! Thanks babe! I think I'm going to look into doing a similar routine every so often.

WOW sunlitmoon, you must of been bored? Whatever, kudos to you man, I get so lazy to read most of these great helpful threads.

Thanks Mock for answering the question too!

I guess we should start conditioning our bags now huh sunlitmoon ?

I'm thinking about sending in Pearly to LMB for a full restoration since her handles have darkened SO MUCH and I never protected her with anything.
