I've never used leather protectant on any of my leather bags before, but with my Nikki being super soft and probably prone to scuffs and scratches, I must protect this bag. I know there are a slew of different brands out there---Apple Garde, Lovinmybags, Wilson's...
What do you use, and in your opinion, what's the best? TIA!

There are multiple threads on this topic already, both in the RM forum and in the Handbags and Purses forum. Here are a few:

Ok gals, I've done some extensive research and learned a lot, but I now have a new question in regard to protecting the leather... I'm not too concerned about protecting it from rain or snow (it doesn't rain or snow much in San Diego!
), I'm more concerned about scuffs and scratches from everyday use...Is there another product out there that protects from scuffs and scratches, in addition to water-proofing it, or will Apple Garde suffice? Thanks again... |

I think if you condition with Apple Care, it helps to buff away any scuffs and scratches

I think that conditioning it helps keep it soft and that probably helps to prevent them somewhat

I love conditioning my leather bags and shoes, it is so therapeutic!!
Personally I love the leather on my MAM Sage, but feel that it's on the dry side and scratches easily, so I conditioned my MAM Sage leather with DICON leather care about once a week - the bag stinks a little after, but it goes away after one day - this actually makes the leather harder to scratch and makes existing scratches much less noticeable. I intend to carry out this anal conditioning ritual for maybe one more week and stop, and allow the bag to "season" naturally. HTH ![]() Oh, I don't have access to Applegarde so I use a generic leather care product that local Braun Buffel stores use on their bags.

Conditioning helps. Keeps the leather soft and supple and a little less prone to scratches. I used LMB's Feel Soft moisturizer on my wine MAB the other day. I did 1/2 the bottom to test. Check out the difference!

Just FYI, I do not recommend Apple Garde (conditioner or cleaner) on 'light' colored handbags. I used a small amount of conditioner on my Yellow Nikki and it left a dark spot. Luckly, I used it in on an area of the bag that no one can see. I haven't had any problem with this product on my other RM bags but I don't think that the yellow leather is 'treated'. I don't want any of you making the same mistake I did.

I use apple care on my darker bags, but on my lighter bags I use wilson's and haven't had any issues. I also use wilson's spray protectant on all my bags, I love it!

Mia... did you wait for it to dry out?? I just ordered some appleguard conditioner for my light coloured bags :( I guess I will just use it on the darker ones.
