Kooky, and IIOS-- the original basketweave from seasons ago (same as white bw/black bw) is all stamped leather. Its not true basketweave. The original basketweave is the ones that were wider, and stamped thicker on all the older bags. The new basketweave which is referred to as the "woven" is also stamped, however the weaving on it is much smaller, but they both have always been stamped.
let me find a thread with comparisons for you. |

I couldn't figure out how to word what I meant...the difference between the two. I knew the original BW wasn't an actual woven basketweave (I hope no one thought it was!), but that it was more detailed than the new BW. Woven...that's the word I was trying to think of for the new BW!You described the difference between the two perfectly, thank you! But yep, I definitely prefer the original BW to the newer, smaller stamped BW. Also, weren't there some issues with the newer woven BW not being as detailed as the original..."lighter" in some spots? |

^^ Yup, some people found that the newer Woven leather's stamping isn't as deeply stamped as the older Basketweave stamping. As a result, some people had Woven bags with areas where the Woven pattern was very lightly stamped and barely noticeable, despite being brand new. (Embossed or debossed/stamped leather will usually lose the effect over time, but it definitely shouldn't lose it that quickly.) The Basketweave leather is definitely better stamped and therefore looks more convincing than the Woven leather, IMHO.

Ummm, I thought it was all confirmed when we all signed up that is was going to be the original basketweave as opposed to the new woven. Why is this an issue now? I do not want another woven-I have a black one with the faded/smooth areas and don't want another like it. If the "old" basketweave isn't possible then I want to make sure that the embossing is deep and consistent.

Here are pics of my faded black woven mab:
These smoother areas are scattered all along the top and sides of the bag (not just the areas circled). I know that stamping/embossing can fade/smooth out over time but the bag was pretty new when I took these pics. Ultimately I decided to live with it but I do not want another like this, esp at full price. |

^ It seems a few of the BW orders are being delayed a bit due to the BW stamping issue. So not to worry! I'm sure it'll get straightened out as this was truly one of the main criterias of these SO basketweave bags, that they have the deeper stamping like the originals.
I am now the proud owner of Scoobiemomma's original white w/BBW MAB (with candy cane lining!) and the stamping on that bag is AMAZING! I'm really hoping for close to the same on these SO's.I can see why you would so not be a happy camper with your woven bag Kmh and I can understand why you would be completely disinterested in another bag with the same woven BW.

^I think the charm of the original basketweave is that it truly looks woven. With my black MAB there is NO question that it is just a design stamped into it. OK as long as they get the stamping fixed by the time this SO goes into production, I will be a happy camper. I also have a chocolate woven Devote and the stamping is much better but still doesn't look as good IMO as the original basketweaves I've seen here.
