I was told by my doctor at my 19 wk ultrasound that I was having a girl. So I started planning and bought a few things and such. Well, last Friday at my 26 week ultrasound with my doc, I was told that my baby is actually a boy. Has anyone had this happen? It really doesn't matter what sex the baby is, we are happy with either. We just really want to know ahead, neither of us like surprises. I did get another ultrasound this week by a 3D clinic and was told it was a boy by this sonographer too. No hard feelings with my doc, just happy everything looks healthy.

i had a friend who was told it was a girl numerous times..so she did the nursery.using as much pink she could get her hands on..and unfortunately for her, she only found out on the day she delivered it was a boy... so yup..the lil boy had to use an all pink nursery for a while..

most will tell you that they can not tell 100% what the sex is. I mean think how small a lil boys parts would be at 19 weeks. This has happened to a few people I know. I worked in healthcare and can say for that reason they never say it's 100%

Congrats though

Yep, I've heard of this happening too, and it usually happens the way it did with you. They were told it was a girl, and then when the baby came...SUPRISE!!

THIS is the reason that I am afraid to take tags off of anything and wash it before the baby comes!! Wow, but you will love having a boy - they LOVE their mamas! Congratulations!

That happened with a friend of mine. She had an ultrasound they said it was a girl...her pregnancy was uneventul so never needed another ultrasound, had her shower, got all girl stuff and when she gave birth much to her surprise it was a boy!!

And I have to agree that you will love having a little boy and that they love their mommy's!!

Yes I agree with the boy thing. I have 2 and they are SOOOOOOO wonderful.

Plus, I kind of like getting to be the only girl in the house! ( Well, that is unless you count my english setter and chihuahua! )

I think I'd like being the only girl in the house too!

My friend also was told throughout her pregnancy that her baby was a little girl, but then delivered a boy. For that reason, my SIL is leaving the tags on everything until her baby shows her little face!

Remaining the only human girl in the house will be nice. (I have 3 girl dogs myself).

a friend and her girlfriend/wife decided to have a baby, and they found out that she was a girl. they had everything pink, a girl baby shower, the works. and then their little boy was born, to their surprise! (this was in 2007)

also, a neighbor was told she was having a boy (after having had 3 girls) and she was ecstatic- did the room blue, etc. the baby came- another girl. she named it the boys name anyway, and was so depressed they kept her at the hospital longer (that was a long time ago.)

you had your 1st ultrasound at 19wks? that's a lil too early, that's what they tell me when i wanted to have an ultrasound for my 2nd baby. they told me to wait until i'm at least 24wks.. 24wks was kinda ealy still, but i wanted to have the u/s already because i was going back to the states for the holidats and wanted to tell the family and friends if we're having a girl or a boy. so my ultrasound technician told me when he did mu ultrasound "probably a boy" --

i guess that way, it's not 100% sure that they'd predicted the gender and we won't get disappointed... coz it was our fault also.. we came 2wks early.. they wanted to do my u/s at 26wks. but i had to leave for my vacation.. so it was done 2wks early.

anyway, congrats on having a baby boy.. i'm sure u can still exchange any of the girly items u've purchased already for a boys item. have a happy, safe pregnancy!!!

I wanted it to be a surprise so never found out the sex of my son. I agree with the others, girls are cute and all, but boys LOVE their Mom's. The love of a child is so unexplainable ... God Bless and Congrats!

Yeah, a lot of the times, the babies genitals can be swollen. So that both a boy and a girl can be mistaken for either. I was told by an ultrasound technician that it's harder to tell the sex later in your pregnancy. I didn't know "for sure" that my baby was a boy until my 32 week ultrasound!! (But I already knew he was a boy by 3 months
So there's no telling really. I would buy neutral stuff until then, if you really want to buy stuff now. Or stick with the big things like, crib, stroller, toys, ect.

This is my big fear, but I've had two ultrasounds so far and both clearly say boy.

Sorry you bought some stuff already and have to readjust - that's a bummer. I'm glad you're excited either way. There's a lot of cute boys' stuff out there too, much more than I realized.

I've heard it's easier to confirm boys than girls, though I do know one person who was told it was a boy and then it turned out to be the cord in the wrong place. For me, I had a feeling I was having a boy, and then the ultrasound confirmed it. We had about 4 doctors in the room (teaching hospital) and they were all "95% sure" it was a boy. Then later, we had a clear shot from the bottom of him sitting, and there were clearly boy parts there.
