It all depends on how clear a view they can get, too. Sometimes they are more sure than others. Generally a tech will tell you they are __% sure it is a boy/girl because they can never say with 100% certainty. Sorry about the mix-up and having to return things, though.

But I definitely "knew" the sex of my babies before the u/s. Dh didn't want to find out, though. But with the first pg he had to use the bathroom during the u/s and with the second he had to take our first son for a walk to calm him down. I had the tech check while he was gone. They confirmed my feelings and I never let on to dh that I knew. Our first two babies were "surprises" for him, and he agreed to find out with the last.

i love that story, no big deal about a nursery...it is all easily changed.

you can traumatize him later how he looked like a girl on his ultrasound...when he is a teenager!

With both my 1st two pregnancies they did my ultrasounds at 18 weeks and with my daughter the tech was not very sure, but she did say she got a good look. With my son it was very clear he was a boy. I think it may be the equipment some offices may use or weather they can get a clear view or not because my 12 week ultrasound pics were more clear then my friends 20 week pics.

yeah, it's actually mroe common to be told it's a girl and it end up being a boy than the other way around.
Sometimes the boys parts don't descend until later making it easy to make that mistake.

I just knew. I could just feel it in my heart that I had a little boy inside me
I also had dreams later in my pregnancy. I had one dream about a boy with blue eyes and darker hair, about 8 months old, and he was sitting up in some grass, and ripping it out of the ground. He sniffed it, and then shoved it toward me like I should smell it now I can't say how I really knew, but I just did. Also, an ultrasound technician told me that usually from what she's seen, mothers that "know" the sex of their baby are always right.

This happened to my aunt -- she didn't know until the baby came out that it was a son! I'm glad you are happy with the sex either way, though -- I know some people are so set on having a particular gender.

I guess some boys just aren't show-offs!

The only thing that can guarantee the sex is if you have an amnio. Otherwise, dont plan on anything until you see the little one yourself!! Trust me, after having four children, I mean what I say...

I have two boys and a girl. When I found out I was having a girl I was elated!!! Then I lived in fear that they were wrong. When she was born the first thing I said was "It is a girl??!!!" Thankfully she was!

It's so funny because you can never bee 100% sure unless you have a CVS (?) or amnio. My girlfriend found out at 14 weeks that it was a boy but the technician told her to not decorate the room just in case. at 20 weeks that had the "official" it's a boy ultrasound. I just had an ultrasound on fri to find out the sex at 13 weeks at a gender determination /4d place (it's possible but not guaranteed) and the lady told me it was a girl. I guess i'll find out in a few more weeks if she was right :).
