Default Which designer tote as baby bag?
Hi ladies... Just found this board! I am due with a little girl in November and trying to decide on a baby bag. I would like to go with a designer tote instead of something that is designed to be a diaper bag. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have been looking at the LV Neverfull or Cabas Mezzo/Piano, but my hubby hates LV. :-( He has been giving me a really hard time about getting another one. So I would like to consider other designers, but really am not familiar with the other best tote options. Any input you might have is appreciated. TIA!

MZ Wallace has been making some awesome looking bags that might work well.

Congratulations on your forthcoming arrival! You must be so excited!
As for bags, see if you can find a Mulberry Roxanne A4 tote to have a look at. It's the perfect baby bag, especially if you go for the coated canvas option (it comes in various leathers too). It's a good size with front pockets for smaller items, and is open topped (save for a narrow strap closure) so it's easy to rummage around in. The coated canvas comes in some lovely cheerful colours as well as black. They also do a shiny vinyl version too, and if the A4 isn't big enough the larger Roxanne tote would fit the bill.
Good luck with baby AND bag hunting! X

I'm buying the "Vera" tote bag from Vera Bradley this week. It has 6 pockets inside and 1 outside, and it's big enough inside to hold everything, but not so big that it's ridiculous.

My friend has it in Paprika...

I'm getting it in Night Owl.

There are other patterns:

Try the Cake series from Petunia Pickle Bottom. Sure it's not LV nor Fendi but it's sought after diaper bag brand that do not look like diaper bags at all, so you can use it as a normal bag once baby is potty trained. http://www.petuniapicklebottom.com/collections/cake/

I have a LV Damier Neverfull that I'm thinking I will be using sometimes and then I really like the idea of the Tory Burch totes - they would be cute for Spring/Summer. The Damier print is a nice alternative to the monogram print if he just doesn't like the mono print. I'm also going to get a "dedicated" diaper bag that is actually a bag meant to be a diaper bag, for when DH needs it or extra bag for trips, etc.

I haven't bought one yet, but I'm really considering a Kate Spade diaper bag. They are designer, stylish and at a reasonable price.

I actually use a vintage Gucci messenger with a bottle bag inside to keep DS's milk cold. It also has a small matching inner wallet that I can put a few things inside for me. I think you can use almost any bag as long as it's big enough for what you need to carry, and just get a bottle bag to keep the bottles/food separate and cold.

The totally GM is a good option. Would your DH give you that hard of a time, considering that it's for you, or is he going to carry it too? My DH has his own $15 Gerber diaper bag in brown. He slings things around, and I do not sling my Gucci around! lol

I do that too! I have a JuJuBe. Not for DH though, but when I am going certain places and I don't want to be worried about damage or soiling the Gucci.

Goyard St. Louis is almost exactly like the LV Neverfull but (IMO) much cooler! It comes in many colors and is hand painted. It's super light-weight and very durable. HTH!

I bought a Lucky Brand Honeycomb leather tote and attached a Coach Bee key fob to it for my diaper bag.

I have a couple of large designer bags that I have been using. I love that they just look like a big purse, but can hold all of the stuff I need for a day out with DS. HOWEVER, when you use a tote, all of the important stuff (formula container, bottles, water to mix the fomula, burp cloth, etc) sinks to the bottom, while the changing pad (that you would have NO trouble locating quickly) stays on top. I'm thinking of switching to an actual diaper bag just because I think all the pockets will keep things more organized and more easily accessible. It never fails - when I need something from the diaper bag, it's always something I need FAST, and it's always at the bottom and I have to dig for it, sometimes spilling other stuff out.
