Default Whats the baby stuff you couldn't live without

So, my ultrasound is Monday and as soon as I hear that heart beating I am gonna start buying for baby! So moms, what are the items you couldn't live without during the first year? I would love any recommendations for the baby stuff that made your life easier! Thanks!

Congratulations!!!
the first time you see and hear your baby is so memorable and emotional...

As for the stuff...
right now it's his baby swing, keeps him calm and makes him sleep.

A swing for those moments you need to calm the baby down..
Lots of onesies, bibs and sleepers
LOTS of pampers (some Newborn but LOTS of 1's..depending on your baby's size of course)

Lemme think..

Does anyone use the swaddling blankets? Is that something I need?

didn't really use the swaddling blankets that much... he didn't like it...
but I did use them alot on one of my girls when she was a baby, so it depends on what your little one would prefer LOL!
but I still got to use them as burping cloths for my son.
So I would say you should get some along with bibs.

We never had a swing but did use our bouncy seat a lot. I'm sad that DD's too old for it now. She used to nap in it every morning...so cute. Some babies prefer the swing, others the bouncer, so you might need to try out different things to see what your baby likes.

I used Carter's sleep sacks for her first six months. They're very fleecy and soft and good for keeping winter babies warm. I was too lazy to swaddle once we were out of the hospital, and she slept fine without swaddling anyway.

Used a mini Arm's Reach co-sleeper the first six months--LOVED it.

I nurse DD and love my Boppy.

Strollers--I walk a LOT. Used a Graco Snugrider frame with her car seat until she was six months old, then switched to a Maclaren Volo, which is lightweight (very nice since I have to carry it up and down a few steps in front of our house) and easy to push. Strollers are a matter of preference; you have to try them out and decide what works for your lifestyle.

We do a lot of road trips to visit family and have a little mirror that goes on the headrest above DD's carseat so we can see her in the rearview mirror when we're driving.

Most importantly, not "stuff," but we had a lot of help from family the first few weeks after DD was born, and I was very grateful, especially because I had an emergency c-section and needed some time to recover.

I really recommend a good sling. Particularly helpful if you have a fussy baby & still need to do light housework or will be nursing on-the go. You will know pretty quickly if your baby likes or hates swaddling - I had both temperments. I liked the waffle/thermal blankets best for swadding, they had enough give to really form fit around a wiggly baby.

Also lots & lots of receiving blankets, my 2nd was the spit-up & burp rag queen.

My kids all liked a swing and the bouncers but hated the vibrating seats. A bobby is really great both for nursing and for letting baby nap while feeling like they are being snuggled by mom.

I also really liked the onesies that snap all the way down the front & across the bottom - little ones really don't like getting shirts over their heads.

If you think you will be nursing & working, I would recommend at least an Avent Isis hand pump; Medela electric if the price is not too steep (The silicon insert from the Isis actually fit my Medela - improves comfort).

I think limit your purchases until the end of the 1st trimester at least.. and why dont you wait til you can tell if its a boy or girl. i was told its a boy at 12 weeks and again at 16 weeks... so now i can buy things that would look nice for boys.. its just a thought but i think it makes more sense.. and i know it seems like time would never pass and that you cant wait but trust me , the wait is worth it!

It's been a lot of years, but I had these quick change sheets, where the corners velcro'ed down to a regular sheet...life saver when you needed to change in the middle of the night.

Gas drops

Playtex sippy cups, started at about 6 months, so baby was off the bottle by 1 year.

Lavender night time bath for helping fussy baby relax before bed & menthol bath for when baby has a cold.

Scrubby head washer, soft nylon bristles (looks like a mushroom brush), if you use one the baby will never have cradle cap.

Side snap regular t-shirts for before the umbilical cord falls off, onsies after that.

Baby Gold bond powder. I swear the best baby powder on the planet.

I loved having a boppy for nursing, Desitin thick for prevention of diaper rashes. And for later, get the Jumperoo, it's so fun to watch them bounce in it, and so fun for baby too!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Wishing you the very best
