Oh...I am so sorry! This happened within my own group of friends also. One of them was due before the other and "stole" the name. Our other friend was totally devastated and considered it a complete betrayal. I feel so bad for you but I would still go ahead and give the name Gaetano Nino. You are honoring your father and grandfather. Don't worry about that witch! If she is so evil to do that on purpose she will likely say that you "copied" her but just ignore it. If you are totally against using the same name you could always use Gaetanino. Isn't that what you said your father's name was in that other thread? I am so sorry for this though. This is why I refused to tell anyone what I was naming my kids until they were born...and I mean NO ONE! Not even parents, in laws etc. My DH and I were the ONLY ones that knew the names.

so I don't think it looks like you copied them. If the subject ever comes up later you can always tell your side of things.

You poor thing! I would be really really upset as well. I agree with you that it would be different if they'd said something when you said that was the name you picked (OMG! That's the same name we want to use!), but to ask you, not say anything, then use the name is just lousy in my opinion. I think you should go ahead with it nonetheless; you obviously have clear family reasons for the name and were already planning to use it. I probably wouldn't say anything to the family members involved, but I'd be seething a bit inside (and, yes, I know that's not the healthiest way of dealing with it.)
