Default What size clothes to buy?

I'm just starting to buy clothes. I have a few newborn sized items. A few 0-3 month and some 3-6 months. How much do I really need? DH and I were both 8 lb babies and this baby is measuring over a week ahead.

i used a lot of 'onesies' - the soft sleepers with the feet.... i had light weight for summers and heavy blanket ones for winters.. we lived in philadelphia and syracuse.... and i also bought overalls and t shirts... try buying 12mos sizes too.... get lots of bibs! and socks....congrats - i had 2 boys - they are 19 and 21!

I used onesies and pajamas with the little protectors over the hands so my son wouldn't scratch his face. I purchased various sizes because I wasn't sure, I bought some brands in preemies, but most were size 0-3 months. The little newborn white t-shirts worked great too, esp. during the summer and made it easy for diaper changing!

I have A LOT of onesies, you will need them... also burp cloths, bibs, socks (if you don't really use those footed pants/pajama depending on the weather).. with regards to sizes... I have a lot of 6-9mos for starters. It's better to buy the bigger size because babies grow so fast. The bigger sizes, you can use it for a long time.

Sears sold the onsies for a great price when my boys were babies...they were probably my staple item for both boys.

if i saw something cute on clearance and it was too big, i would buy it any way...you know that someday he/she will be wearing that size...and if it's a great price can't pass that up.

and i used a lot of onesies and cute lil shorts and tee sets...i'm in tx, so it's always hot here.

I had a couple sleepers with the feet that were newborn sizes and the undershirts that snapped on the side until her belly button fell off. Other than that almost everything else was 3-6mo with the exception of a few outfits that were 0-3. I just found that they grew out of them so quickly!! slightly bigger is always better than too small so your baby has room to stretch out...especially the sleepers with the feet.

I wouldn't get too much in the newborn size. They grow out of them quickly. Some comfie onsies are great. I would get more in the 3-6 month size.
