i didn't have to tell him...he brought home the test and he could tell by the look on my face when i came out of the restroom. it was a crazy time...i wasn't even late or anything, i just felt different and i had heartburn after i had pancakes...so i knew something was up.

Great thread!

I'm thinking about it too... (ttc)

DH loves opening packages; we often buy movies and books online, he also buys SO flashlights (collectors' items, can you believe it!? and they are not cheap either lol), and some other items... So I was thinking I'd take an older box, with shipping label addressed to him, and put the positive pregnancy test gift wraped inside, and then watch him open it

I'm still thinking about other ideas... But whatever I'll do I want to be there to see his Happy Smile!!! I may even try to take a picture lol

Fun thread.... with the first 2 I just told him, couldn't help it. With #3 I planned a night out (my mom had the kids). I had bought our youngest of the 2 a t-shirt that said "I'm the big sister". I had my mom bring the girls to where we were eating wearing the shirt, and it took him a few minutes to figure it out....but he couldn't wipe the smile off his face once he did! :P

With #4, I went and bought balloons and took them to where we were having dinner that night. Once we were at the restaraunt and had eaten (which I couldn't because I was too excited), they all came out with the balloons singing "congratulations to you........". I was so happy that I had topped #3 and the look was worth everything. The whole restaurant clapped and we both had tears in our eyes.....

Thank goodness we're done, because it would be hard to top that one!! :P

I wish I had done this!! I am now 6 weeks pregnant and told my husband three weeks ago. I feel like the way I did it was so boring but I was a little surprised myself!!

I know they do these things for wedding favors so they must do them for this.
This is such a cute idea! It gave me another one...
I may paint 'Congratulations Daddy' on a dinner plate and then cover it with food and just watch him 'getting there'

My husband is an athlete, and I always give him a little present before each game. I wrapped up a onesie that said I love Daddy, the digital test that said pregnant, and the pin that my Mom gave to my Dad when she first found out she was pregnant that says "My heart belongs to Daddy." He opended the box, looked confused and then shocked. He got teary eyed and just said "are you really?" It was priceless!

Thanks for all the responses!! I decided that I would prepare in advance since I am sure it would be hard to keep it a secret once I know. At the Dollar Store, I found a baby bib that says I love my Dad and a nice card. Its all tucked away in one of my drawers waiting for that special day....

I thought about this a while ago when we thought we wanted a baby. I'd make a T shirt with "BABY INSIDE" print on, and I 'd wear it. I wonder how long it would take him to figure it out!

Give him a "Congratulations for your Promotion" card! A promotion to be a parent/daddy which you can write inside the card. I didn't actually do that because I was shocked. But we are planning to do this at Christmas when we tell his parents. :)

Ah man, I wanted to do something like this with #2. I read somewhere once that a mom made for dinner everything with baby - baby carrots, baby corn, baby back ribs , and so on. I thought about wrapping a baby outfit and leaving it for him. I thought about it in so many ways, but after 2.5 years of infertility, a miscarriage and then having it happen a MONTH after we sold all the baby stuff and had said we wouldn't try any more (but were waiting ONE MORE MONTH to discuss long term birth control), I got pregnant and I was in such shock, I just showed him the pregnancy test.... I wasn't even late yet, but I just knew what I was feeling.

This is more for other family - Over Thanksgiving DH's cousin revealed it through a card that you talk into from Hallmark, they got one of the grandkids to give it to grandpa to open before the blessing and in a computer voice it said "You are expecting another grandchild, can you guess who?"

It was really fun!
