Have any of you had these? Mine was so bad last night I almost passed out on the toilet! Talk about awful! I have never experienced so much pain in my life. I called the doc this morning and he said that everything was ok, I was crying bc I found some blood in the toilet after going again this morning (upset tummy), but I knew it didn't come from my you know what. So he wasn't worried, he said if I'm still experiencing that (bleeding with upset tummy)on MONDAY to come in, he said I probably ruptured a blood vessel in there. Oh boy. But so far the rest of the day has just been rumbly tummy and no bad stuff. He put me on a diet of bread, Gatorade, saltines and cheese for today and tomorrow. He said this was sometimes a once or twice normal occurance during pregnancy.

Sorry so graphic, this is SO not something I can share with the girls I know.

Not entirely sure what you mean since you're actually not graphic at all, very discreet in fact - LOL. But, in any case, a lot of women get hemorrhoids while they're pregnant or during delivery from the pushing, and that may be what's hurting and bleeding. I had a similar issue myself (while not pregnant), ended up even getting a scope to make sure it wasn't something more serious and that's all it was. Constipation can also be an issue; I took Metamucil constantly during my whole pregnancy.

If I'm misunderstanding, my friend actually had varicose veins in her vagina toward the end of her pregnancy from the weight of the baby. She said they were absolute torture, very painful, so that could be something to ask your doctor to check if I'm misunderstanding where the pain is from.

Thanks ladies, I tried not to be too gross! The bleeding came from the bottom. Nothing at all from my vagina which is why the doc wasn't too worried.

what scared me was the fact that it seemed like alot, but he asked me (gross) if it was red mucus. And I told him yes and he said then it wasn't as much blood as I thought it was.

Metamucil seems the way to go, I am either constipated or I have diarrhea, I just want a happy medium!!

No, not too graphic at all... come on, pregnancy makes these things that would be worrisome in everyday life extra-scary because you're concerned about the well-being of the baby... Although I never did get hemorrhoids while pregnant, I remember getting extremely constipated (most likely due to all the iron in the prenatal vitamins) and getting a small rectal fissure. I was probably as far along as you are now. It healed within a couple of days and I started taking a multivitamin instead of the prenatal vitamin and all was well again... It's probably a good idea to see a doc if this continues just because it'll alleviate whatever fears you have about it. Also you might want to note the color of the blood you see (is it bright red? is it dark brown? etc). This might be helpful info to the physician investigating the occult blood while trying to determine where exactly this blood might be coming from.

Metamucil can also help with diarrhea (go figure!) because the fiber can bulk things up for you. I had problems when i was on vacation in Turkey at the end of my second trimester. I called my sister in law, who's an OB/GYN, to ask what I could take bc I had to be on a plane the next day, and she said to start with the Metamucil because it's just fiber. It did the trick for that as well.

BTW, get it in capsules, not the powder. I just took the capsules every day along with my prenatal and other supplements.

Yes, a lot of pregnant women get hemorrhoids. Also, the baby is putting pressure on your bowels, and that can cause bleeding, constipation, and severe pain while trying to pass a bowel. Also gas is very very painful!! I know how you feel, and I'm sorry that you have to go though this! But, it's part of being pregnant! I hope everything turns out to be OK. It might be something as simple as a hemorrhoid (I know, not something you'd be over-joyed to have) but it's better than something serious!!!

I had a bad stomache last week too so I feel your pain. Luckily there was no blood but I was really exhausted from going to the toilet so much. At one point I was so upset I wanted to cry. I don't know why I get stomache is easily now. I guess it is just another thing about being pregnant.

It's quite common to have bowel issues (especially "the runs" and lots of gas) through the pregnancy because of the pressure of a growing fetus pressing on your colon, stomach and kidneys. Your body will often adjust and feel a bit better over time.

My best wishes to you... been there and done that 3 times. LOL
