I have always heard that stretch marks are hereditary and that if your Mom/Grandma got them, most likely you will, too. I've also heard that once you have them, you can't get rid of them...but, they will lighten over time. I know there are some women who swear by this cream or that cream, so maybe they will chime in! All I used was cocoa butter and shea butter and I don't have stretch marks, but then again, neither did my Mom/Grandma...

HTH!

After baby is born, I bet you could get laser treatments if they bother you that much...just a thought.

^^ true. stretch marks are hereditary...so there is nothing that you can do to prevent them 100%. it all has to do with the elasticity of your skin. drink plenty of water so that you keep your skin hydrated. but sorry to say there is nothing really that you can do to lose them once you have them. i have tried all kinds of stuff to no effect at all, except wasted money.

i got all mine on my stomach, my friend got not one on her stomach, but sadly her butt and thighs weren't so lucky :( so it's all about how far your skin can stretch without breaking down.

i agree with those who say it's hereditary, and not much you can do once they appear . i also heard that they tend to lighten over time after the birth. i do use a lotion occasionally but i don't think it makes a difference really in terms of stretch marks.i mainly use it to prevent my tummy from itching due to the stretching. i don't have any stretch marks on my tummy, but i think it's just due to luck of the draw in terms of genetics..my mom didn't have them either.

I've used lotions, creams, oils, scrubs, dry brushing, massaging, etc. constantly and keep getting them on my buttocks and now hips . I think it is hereditary! There is nothing I can do and they just keep coming! I can't imagine what my body will look like in 3 more months. Not to mention the spider and vericose veins I'm getting as well . I'm definitely going to have to see a plastic surgeon when this is all over!

Its not entirelyL up to fate though... My mom and grams got them but I didn't! Course I only gained 25lbs (not 50+ like my mom) and I swam in bio oil... Seriously I was glad it smelled nice cause I had it on my tummy, posterior, and thighs every day after the 6 month mark!

I shoulda probably started earlier, but hey, I didn't get any stretch marks hooray!

I use Palmers coco butter for stretch mark minimisation but I think if you are going to get them there is not alot you can do unfortunately except to minimise them!

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been lathering my stomach with argan oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and raw african shea butter - so far, so good. I neglected my sides are there are a few on each side of my hips. I'm sure they'll fade. I'm just praying that I don't get any on my tummy!!

My Mom and Grandma have them, but I don't. I used Belly Butter from Due Maternity. I have always used some kind of lotion after every bath. I made sure to drink a ton of water and not gain weight too fast. I gained 30lbs with my daughter and nearly 60 with my son. I was shocked that I didn't get any the second time around.

It's hereditary. My mom and aunts didn't have stretch marks on their tummy and I didn't have any. I use Palmer's Cocoa Butter and seems like that's the only one I can use. I tried using Alqvimia Body Stretch Stopper Body Oil which is 10x the cost of Palmer's and am allergic to it! I used Cocoa Butter from 3 months onwards religiously twice a day after shower.

Debunks the theory that it is hereditary. I've come across others who didn't get SM, but their mothers or sisters did.

My mother didn't ever get any but I got them when I went on the pill as a teenager (as it made me go up a few sizes in a short period of time and boobs out of now where!).

Pre pregnancy I was very petite, just like I was as a teenager pre pill. I am now 14 weeks and the weight is piling on. Not as quick as when I was a teenager, however I have put on over 4 kg (there are 2.2 pounds to a kg).

I am using any cream I can get my hands on - twice a day. I don't think that that creams really work but I think the rubbing is good for your skin as it increases blood flow.

I won't kid myself that I won't get them - I think that I will - I just hope that they don't take so long to fade this time!!!

ugh... i am getting them.

I'm irritated about them right now because i started my pregnancy overweight to begin with. I lost a few pounds due to all the morning sickness in first trimester & my weight has been holding steady for the last couple weeks. I don't think my belly really looks any bigger from the pregnancy than it does with the flab & being overweight, but I was looking at my tummy in the full length mirror & I had stretch marks on both sides of my tummy. It's so ridiculous! I didn't get stretch marks on my stomach from flabby weight gain, why get them now?

I already have them on my hips from weight gain/loss from when i was younger. i hope they fade as much.
