I could not stand the smell of coco butter during my first trimester and I got the Curel Pregnancy and Motherhood lotion. The smell is very faint and so far I like it. I find that it really hydrates my skin well.

I used Clarins eau de huile and Stretch Mark Cream from 2nd trimester on. Applied it 2x a day. I didn't care if it didn't prevent stretch marks because my mom got them BUT I wanted something nice and natural for my skin. Clarins is expensive but to me worth every penny. eau de huile has stronger herbal smell where as the cream doesn't have any distinct smell. No itching and stretch marks! Someone mentioned drinking a lot of water, I think that helps too. Don't flame me but I read a recent study about how coco butter isn't that effective preventing stretch marks but the study identified two ingredients and products that worked better. Too bad neither products are available in the U.S., one is made in Spain.

I've heard that Bio oil is excellent. I used the gel version of Johnsons baby oil & kept a bottle by to loo so that I rubbed some in to my tum through the day. I haven't got any stretch marks. Good luck & don't feel bad if you get them. Just think of that lovely baby you will get at the end.

I agree. I've had two children and don't have any stretch marks at all. While I definitely agree that genetics plays a big part, I think drinking water really helps!

tummy honey is what I used, I had a 10 lb. boy and no stretch marks. It also helps with the itching. OMG-the itching was the worst.

Hi, when i've been pregnant i've used a combination of bio oil, and palmers coco stretch mark cream - so far so lucky, only a couple of minor stretch marks!
Good luck and congrats!

Genetics or not, I loved the Body Shops Body butter in Cocoa, they also have this great 'roll-on' stick that you can use too. I liked the roll on because the belly is not the only place you get stretch marks, don't forget your inner thighs, and the sides of your boobs. I was lucky after 2 kids and didn't get stretch marks but what I did get is the least of my problems! I just wish it got rid of my weight!

My doctor told me that it is from genetics, and that helping to keep your body hydrated is a good way to prevent. I don't believe in creams. I used them. Needless to say they didn't work. I didn't get a single stretch mark until I was about 8 months, maybe a little later. But most of them I got in the last 2-3 weeks, and I wasn't even over due.
You can try, it's worth a shot!! My Grandma always told me that olive oil worked, and that her mother used it. I would reference your family history though.

Pure olive oil is another alternative... The one you buy from the Supermarket and cook with. Hope that helps!

i like bio-oil the best, coz your tummy would be really itchy and i think it helps with the itchiness too... but they all say, if you're meant to get them you'll get them, its in your genes
