Default Should I be worried?

I just found out I am pregnant again (after having a miscarriage 5 months ago) and I am super scared of having another miscarriage. Most of the people I have known that have been pregnant say that sore breasts are the first signs of pregnancy they had...in some cases before a positive hpt.

I do not have sore breasts. I just want to see if anyone else had the absence of this symptom & still had a healthy pregnancy.
I am not sure how far along I am but I do know I am very early. I got a positive from my dr (urine test) 5 days ago....which was 9 days prior to my period due date so technically, I haven't missed my period yet but have confirmed w/ 2 more hpts that I am pregnant.
Any advice to put my mind at ease would be very nice.
TIA

Congratulations!

No, I don't think I'd worry about the lack of soreness... And just from a strictly statistical point of view (unless you have been diagnosed with a condition that's a risk factor for serial miscarriages) your chances of miscarrying a second time in a row are really slim. The overwhelming majority of pregnancies that follow a random miscarriage are healthy and go to term, right?

And my boobs were NEVER sore when I was pregnant. Not once. They got really huge but that's something else altogether... Congratulations again!

emmalawyer-Just hearing that someone else had a healthy pregnancy without the presence of this symptom helps put my mind at ease a lot.

I totally did. And besides, you're so early on that you might still get it, you know?

The thing I learned with my pregnancy was to be careful what pregnancy symptoms you wish for because you WILL get them... I used to think nausea was THE SIGN of a healthy pregnancy and when I didn't have any right away, I thought for sure this was ominous... I finally got it around 8-9 weeks or so. And around 20 weeks. And 30 weeks. Up to 36 weeks, when I think it stopped but by then everything ached and my only coherent thought was that I really just needed to birth my twins out NOW so it's possible I just stopped noticing it... :)

I had absolutely no symptoms with my first pregnancy (or my second!) until I started to show - if that can be considered a "symptom"! No nausea, no sore breasts, no bloating, no cravings. Rest assured, symptoms are NOT an indication of a healthy or unhealthy pregnancy; they are random. Some people get them and others do not, but they have no bearing on the success of carrying a baby to term.

And I also agree that unless you have an ongoing, diagnosed reason for miscarrying, the odds of having another are low.

I got a bit worried because with my first pregnancy I had very sore boobs and a lot of cramping. This time around, I don't feel any of those things. I asked my Mom and the doctor if everything was fine. I even got an ultrasound at 7 weeks to look at the heart beat to reassure me that everything was ok.

Don't worry too much. The stress isn't good. I know that is hard though.

Good luck!

First, congrats!

You are pretty early pregnant so sore boobs could still come along or maybe you wont get them at all. You may wind up with all the texbook symptoms or just a few or none, who knows.

Pregnancy symptoms vary a lot, and there are lots of things that may be "textbook" symptoms that you never get, or it may be so early that you just haven't noticed it yet. I _think_ (don't quote me) sore breasts are related to progesterone levels, which would still be changing a lot during very early pregnancy, as would HCG, which will be quite low to start off with and then rise. There is so much talk about what symptoms you might have even as early as during the two week wait, but my personal experience was that I just couldn't tell at that time anything different from regular premenstrual symptoms. I did have sore breasts, but no more so than before a period. I don't think I had any truly reliable pregnancy symptoms until at least six weeks or later, even though I was taking progesterone, which should if anything cause more symptoms. I made myself crazy trying to figure out what was what, what was a good sign, what was a bad sign, etc., so I know what you're dealing with.

I would be more worried if you had soreness to start with, and then it stopped. That could be a concerning sign. But if you just don't have it, or don't have it _yet_, I wouldn't worry. I know that's easy to say. Hang in there!

Do you know if your doctor will do an early ultrasound (like 7 weeks) for you with your history of miscarriage? That can be such a reassurance, to see the heartbeat.

^^^I took progesterone too and still no sore boobs...

Such a good point you made about the difference between having a symptom and it stopping abruptly this early in pregnancy vs. never having the symptom at all or just not having it yet! I wish someone had pointed out that distinction to me last year at this time when I was in the first trimester with my twins and climbing the walls... damn if I had known then how truly OK everything was going to turn out, I think I would have just put complete faith in my body, turned off my brain for 37 weeks and actually savored every day I grew these little human beings who are now (barely a year later) sprouting their first tooth... (hint, hint OP...) --although, to be fair, whenever someone told me to just relax and enjoy being pregnant I wanted to scream ''No no NO YOU just don't get it!!!'' so I can appreciate the fact that after a loss or after having difficulty getting pregnant (both in my case cuz that's just how I roll) it can be really difficult (if not impossible) to tune your fears out and get all blissful.

But, I think I remember it getting easier in the second trimester and A LOT easier once they reached viability (at 23-24 weeks?) and every week thereafter...
